Guest guest
I talked with the guy who modifies Airstreams for MCSers four years ago. He agreed that this specialty rebuild is economically out of reach for most financially devastated people. They still have a plywood floor, so that area still retains unsafe potential, and if you want to see just how unsafe - go to a RV wrecking yard and find some old, well used rigs and smash the plywood apart. You will be amazed at what you find hidden in the glue layers. Not only that, but the metal skin of an airstream is highly condensation intensive - more than enough to provide interior wood walls with sufficient moisture. After looking at all the problems with conventional design, I decided that I didn't really trust any of them. There are a few companies that come very close, and if they would simply change out flooring material and roof caps with non- cellulose, I believe they would be quite reliable. I thought that the IAQ board would instantly see the benefits of an " MCS special " that, if produced in sufficient quantity, need not be " top of the line " and so ferociously expensive as a custom modified Airstream, and perhaps the group could collectively approach an RV manufacturer and propose such a modified design. One of the reasons I " slam " the IAQ for pointing out their disinterest is that I perceive it as a fundamental lack of appreciation for the very real need for such a device. It seems to me that anyone who really knows and understands what this illness is like would see a proposal like that and instantly say " My God. I wish I had something like that! " When I point out something that is extremely relevant to my survival and others make no comment at all, it leads me to suspect that they might not be subsisting at the same Personal Impact Rating level of reactivity that I am, or at least they don't understand my needs. It's not just that I am trying to 'slam' people when I point out a lack of response. It is that I see this as an solid indication that they do not understand what I am dealing with. -
