?referral for hip labrum tear?

Hi all,

I have an acquaintance with a hip labrum tear (most likely MVA, but it

has only now been dx'd...about 6 mo after MVA).

He has been making very slow progress...and would like to get a name

for an orthopod to look at the MRI (taken by his primary care doc, but

I guess he doesn't trust her referrals?)

I haven't seen the films, don't know the severity, don't know if this

is a slow heal or a surgery option...

Any opinions/recommendations?

Thanks,

Robin Schaefer, Aurora

We too have used Dr. Philipon but Vail is

too far for most. Dr. Ellis who trained under him was here but moved away. I

prefer referring to specialists for this type of injury. I’d first try

Dr. Hikes.

We have used him as well. Dr Philipon is

who we send our athletes to in Vail.

I just spoke with Dr. Hikes office and he

does not do the labral tear surgery. They referred to Dr. Ellis who now has

moved. So the area might be missing a hip speicialist for this type of work. Dr.

Mark Wagner or Dr. Greg Irvine might be worth trying.
