Guest guest
I am trying to help the millions of people that live with chemical asthma, some call it multiple chemical sensitivity, or reactive airways disease. This is the time of year where we have many hopes and dreams for our future. A time for joy and love. Unfortunately there are millions of very ill people that are slipping through the cracks suffering from chemical sensitivities and are left without hope and future. I have been suffering with this illness for seven years now diligently writing letters to my legislators and members of congress, but they are looking the other way-- just as they are on the ozone layer or global warming. I had never heard of this illness until I got very ill from mold that was growing in a home I was renting. I lived there many years and was okay, but when water leaked through cracks in the foundation I eventually became very ill. I now live with chronic yeast infections, severe lung problems, trouble eating-food allergies, trouble walking at times, sleeping, breathing, everything hurts when I am exposed to these products. Many people that have become ill from mold have this chemical sensitivity. We should expect more with this illness since all the hurricanes and mold taking over New Orleans. The millions of people that are ill have also been writing to their legislators, different news agencies, we have courageously written and written and written-- so many unanswered letters. I did get my family's letter with Toxic Mold Legislation HB1268 and then changed to HB1269 but nothing has been passed yet. I can't begin to tell you how difficult it is to live in a world where something as simple as fragrance makes you very ill. Fragrance is in shampoo, hair spray, nail polish, laundry detergent, baby personal products, soaps, cleaning products, even some candies- - the list goes on and on. I know California has introduced legislation regarding some of these chemicals in fragrance recently. I am a lot better if I eliminate these products in my home, but the problem is that these chemicals are everywhere in our world. I now live in an apartment complex and get very ill when the neighbors do laundry because they put the vents all by the windows. Another problem that would save babies lives I am sure if they didn't have to breath chemicals coming into their bedroom window. So I am constantly being exposed to chemicals that cause my body danger. It doesn't matter who you write you, no one has the time or it isn't their responsibility to do anything about this problem. The legislators simply look the other way so they don't have to answer to why our products are not safe. I don't care if they are Republicans, Democrats, Right Wing, Left Wing, Black or White I just want someone to do something about millions of people being left to suffer endlessly for corporate profit. There is evidence everywhere about the dangers of mold and the dangerous chemicals in our fragrances and how our government does not regulate what goes into any kind of fragrance. They are doing everything possible to stop regulation of products, and that includes children's toys. I don't know what else to do-- I thought about asking all the famous people that have put fragrances on the market in their name or endorsed a fragrance not knowing that fragrances cause millions such unnecessary suffering and pain--if they would consider taking that fragrance off the market or giving their proceeds to help the sick and suffering. I can't stand to see unecessary suffering especially with children. The asthma inhalers do not help if you have this kind of asthma. We usually cannot work because fragrance is everywhere. We live very isolated lives some living a bubble- type existence. Chronic asthma is at epidemic proportions and many asthma patients don't even know to stay away from fragrances. I know it is a tall order to ask the people that have a fragrance on the market to give up proceeds or give up a product, but someone has to start somewhere. So many of the famous people fight for the people that are suffering but we are right here and we are not being helped at all. We can't depend on our government doing anything at this point-- they are only worried about the economic issue-- and not the public health. Guess they are in deeper in this mess and don't know how to get out. They know this is going on because the present administration wrote letters to other countries strongly encouraging them not to regulate chemicals. They used the same threat that the economy would be ruined if we regulate our chemicals in our products. What are we supposed to do. I don't think I can wait for them to eventually decide to do something and make the date 2020 before anything happens. We are sick now-- and we can't even go to a hospital and hope that they would have a fragrance- free policy. So basically they can put whatever they want in our products-- and they are -- and we are suffering now. I want to live. I am tired of trying to save the world on my computer. What have they done to our country-- or the world for that matter. I have written to you because you are in the area of many famous with fragrances on the market. Thanks for your time.
