Worker's compensation rate change

Docs.

I read in our local paper about a recent change in worker'

compensation. The point of the article was that doctors were beginning

to stop taking w/c because of a change in how carriers were allowed to

reimburse the doctors. They were able to investigate contracts the

doctors had with other insurers, and pay them the rate the doctor

agreed to take from that insurance company. The w/c carriers made an

emergency request for this ruling, if they didn't do this, they would

have to request a rate increase. (B/S in my opinion)

I am not sure if this meant an MCO, or PPO/HMO contract, it did not

specify in the article. Do any of you know any more about this.

Thanks.
