I've never purchased 'branded' store-bought kefir. I know among those who kefir, it is considered inferior to the home-fermented.

There used to be (maybe a couple of years ago) a lady on this list named Godrun. She was kind enough to share her milk kefir grains with me and I have to say, they made the best tasting kefir ever. you can get grains on ebay and from a lot of sources, but her's really were terrific.

I think I still have a direct email for her. If you dno't hear from her I'll try

Hi. I spoke with her and she's travelling so unable to ship grains. I'd suggest

that if you look on the kefir group, you'll likely find ppl willing to

ship for cost of postage.

good! I'm glad you've had success!

important thing to remember: you probably wont' kill it, no matter what you do!

and within a few weeks you'll have more grains than you know what to do with

(because they *do* multiply!) There are lots of ideas on Dom's site and the

kefir group about what to do with extra grains..
