Guest guest
someone gave me a box of them but you might check out walmart or your local hardware store? We have Ace hardware & they carry the quart jars... I think they are a seasonal item but since spring is approaching they might be stocking them soon or already? Guest guest
Bell jars? My hardware store carries them. They are cheap as chips as I recall and come in a box of 12. Guest guest
I find quart (and pint and half pint) canning jars at the grocery store, ACE Hardware, and Walmart. I even found wide mouth half gallon canning jars at Walmart last week. They were pricey $10 for six jars) but I have had to special order them in past. I use them for dehydrated foods, as well as canning, and food storage in fridge, even for drinking a smoothie! Guest guest
I agree, wide mouth are easier to use. ACE hardware, if you have one near, you can order online and pick them up at your local store. Just make sure the order is right when you pick it up. I once ordered wide mouth half gallons and did not check before loading in car, then discovered they were the regular (narrow) mouth and when I tried to return them, they refused them. Guest guest
Cheap as chips? Well even chips are pricey these days. It is at least $8 to $10 a case of 12 depending on size of the jars, here in Calif. Velda On 1/29/2012 8:14 AM, Terry Pogue wrote: > Bell jars? My hardware store carries them. Guest guest
Were they in a case, or single jars by themselves. I have noticed some places like Cost Plus (saw them at Christmas, but don't buy them singly) will sell them one jar at a time, a convenience for some who want to make one or two jar mixes, but much more costly per jar than buying a case of 12. Guest guest
No Cost Plus is not like Costco and is not a membership store. At least here, it sells imports of all kinds from all over the world. Ace may or may not have them right now, as it is not canning season, but you can find them at Ace online and have them delivered to your local store and pick them up. Costco, at least in our area, has never carried canning jars. We do have a Smart and Final which does carry them or used to. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have a few ideas on where to find the canning jars. - Garage Sales (Wait until spring) - Thrift stores (Salvation Army and Goodwill) - Free Cycle (Ask and members may donate, free) Use good judgement when picking up at a strangers home - Craigs List (Again, use good judgement when picking up at a strangers home) - Ask family members (These are sometimes in storage in the basement, attic etc. Good luck and happy kefiring! <)))>< From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Ginny WeltonSent: Monday, January 30, 2012 3:17 AM Subject: Re: Quart jars Single jars by themselves.
