That is an interesting idea. I often wipe cheese with a paper towel damp

with vinegar before wrapping to store and it has helped my cheese last

without mold.

the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so

diluted you can't taste the vinegar), and pop in the fridge. The vinegar kills

any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit,

and voila! Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two

weeks without getting moldy and soft. "

I always thought that getting berries, especially strawberries and raspberries, wet caused them to go bad faster.  I would be really interested in hearing the results if anybody tries this.

I have not tried this yet, but plan to next time I get some fresh berries. I buy

fresh berries since it is one fruit that is not so bad for my diabetes-wise but

would like for them to last a bit longer.

I did learn a trick for washing them. Rinse gently in water. Place in a salad

spinner lined with paper towels... it helps to protect the berries. Spin a bit

to dry. Then store. I use the produce savers from Rubbermaid. I'm not sure but I

think this tip came from the folks at Cook's Illustrated.

Take care,

Gloria
