I agree, if you are losing your hair as a man, nutrition is not going to

help - unless of course you are talking about taking supplements such as Saw

Palmetto etc.

I started losing a lot of hair at 30. At 35 the problem is pretty much gone.

Simple regimen:

1. Nisim Shampoo when showering

2. Regaine at night

3. Nizoral cream at night on tough spots

4. Saw Palmetto supplement during the day

The difference is startling.

I use Avodart, Nizoral, Dr. Proctor's shampoo and I take Lovaza (omega 3's)

which may also be of benefit. I started taking finasteride when it first

came out. I have pretty much kept all of my hair. Never really tried

minoxodil. I just can't get myself to commit to applying topicals everyday.

And I have also read that it only works for about 5 years and then you lose

all of the gains. However, I am wondering if those assessments are made in

the absence of an alpha reductase inhibitor? Maybe the gains last longer if

you take something like Avodart with it (minoxidil).

Congratulations on your progress.

The product you use doesn't really matter, if it's regaine, or

nizoral cream, or you make yourself  scalp

stimulator herbs formula from Riquette Hofstein  book, or salt and water as

described in Bragg

book, or even if you use your own urine

(according to Urine Therapy). It ALL works, as long as you keep massaging your

scalp twice a day for 4 min. Because it's not about the product, it's all about

massage.

But more doesn't mean better, so don't go over 5 min massage,

otherwise you get the opposite result.

There is no evidence that works. None.

Re: Re: HAIR LOSS

The product you use doesn't really matter, if it's regaine, or

nizoral cream, or you make yourself  scalp

stimulator herbs formula from Riquette Hofstein  book, or salt and water as

described in Bragg

book, or even if you use your own urine

(according to Urine Therapy). It ALL works, as long as you keep massaging your

scalp twice a day for 4 min. Because it's not about the product, it's all about

massage.

But more doesn't mean better, so don't go over 5 min massage,

otherwise you get the opposite result.

Oh I think I remember reading about that one a while back. If I remember, it

is suppose to repair tolomeres or something.

Has anyone had issues with hairloss that has been helped with green smoothies?

If you have and you have seen positive results, please post your combos.

Thanks a million!

Thank you Robbie and everyone for your responses. I do think nutrients are so

important for healthy hair. I started losing hair after I went off the pill

thirty years ago, and while I still have some hair, it is of very poor quality.

A friend of mine drank 2 8 oz green smoothies a day and took something called

shen min, a chinese concoction for hair growth and was successful in regrowing

her hair. I wear a wig, and most recently surprised a friend of mine who is a

hair dresser. She didn't know I had worn wigs, so I guess I do a pretty good

job disguisng my issue. I just would love to ditch the wigs and go au natural!

I was taking 50 mg daily and my levels reached 33,000! My nutritionist said that it was good levels and for me to continue but 2 of my other Dr’s freaked out. I quit just to see if it would help anything, but I see no difference. I understand.    I have 2 wigs also, from when I was on chemo and lost a lot of hair then too. Now I have just had to keep cutting it shorter and shorter. Also lately the consistency of it has changed. My whole life I have had STRAIGHT hair and now it is getting wavy. That is also hormonal, in my opinion.Have you taken shen min or just your friend did? I have not heard of it. I do take biotin everyday, but it doesn’t seem to matter. I wear a wig, and most recently surprised a friend of mine who is a hair dresser. She didn't know I had worn wigs, so I guess I do a pretty good job disguisng my issue. I just would love to ditch the wigs and go au natural!

Hate to say but my hair is still falling out (I quit taking the Iodoral 3 months ago) and my thyroid is still not balanced.  ;(

Hi Kathy M and LU:

I've read from a number of sources that low thyroid hormone levels can cause

hair loss in some individuals that have this problem. A low iodine level is most

often associated with a low thyroid hormone level. So doing some research on

this subject, and getting appropriate testing might be helpful.

Yes Lynn,I am very fortunate as I am under the care of  Women's to Women's in Maine.People travel the world to go there for the kinds of issues I have. My adrenals and thyroid are below normal and we are working to improve that problem. I am hoping the greens help me a bit more.Though I am hearing about greens slowing down things...I might lightly steam greens before eating. I have not made up my mind yet.

Vickilynn,I HIGHLY recommend that you get some stinging nettles and make an overnight infusion – take ¾ cup nettles, cover it with 1 quart of boiling water, stir, go back 5 minutes later and top it off with more water to the top, cover and leave on your counter overnight, then strain and refrigerate – drink 2-4 cups per day and also use as a leave in rinse after  you wash your hair.  I’ve seen it make enormous differences with my clients.  On my website there is a resources page if you need to find places I recommend to purchase the nettles.
