Guest guest
I always find your posts interesting, Lea Ann. I am so glad to know that about probiotics. I get ridiculously tired (even more than the already ridiculously tired I am) on them, so I am going to try just a tiny bit at a time. I am glad to have the info about how to customize for chronic fatigue. I have also read that some going on GAPS, especially those with chronic fatigue experience even less energy because they don't eat enough carbs on it. I found this true for me, and I need to walk a fine line with that I think, since I need to watch blood sugar, but not go too low. I will check out the links as well. > > Hello Amy, > > > Here is the post you were referring to: > /message/20708 > > On GAPS probiotic supplements are a huge part of the healing process. Their is often a huge herxheimer reaction to the supplements and they say that people with chronic fatigue often can only take a small part of a probiotic pill per day. I fit that description 100%. I can only stick my tongue in the powder and get the tiniest little bit and I still can feel a reaction.
Guest guest
Yes - extreme exhaustion (just like I used to feel when I had full-blown chronic fatigue) is my reaction to the probiotics! Even if I dip my tongue into the powder too much, I can feel like crap for the rest of the day. I didn't bring any probiotic powder to this show because doing shows is hard enough on my body - I just can't add one more thing. I am still eating my probiotic (fermented) veggies though. I've developed a tolerance to those. From Dr. Rosedale's diet I've learned that it takes a while for your body to switch from being a "sugar burner" to a "fat burner". I bet that during the time that your body is still in "sugar burning mode", taking away your sugar (most carbs essentially) like the GAPS diet does, would make one really tired. I think my body has made the switch. My body was so starved for healthy fats (I had avoided most fats like the plague due to fear of gaining weight) that when I returned the fats I got energy from that. There was a transition period where the added fats did cause me to gain weight, but after I switched most of my extra fats to coconut oil (in the form of coconut butter) my fat-starved body was so happy, and I've been on the mend ever since. (Thank you, "Eat Fat Lose Fat" by Sally Fallon and Enig"). I was on fats AND some sugars (in the form of fruits) for a while (this was the weight fluctuating period) until I read the GAPS protocol and started trying to eat that way. I am glad that we can learn from each other! It was a Vitamix customer who was talking to me on the phone as she was placing an order who mentioned the GAPS diet. I wish that I remembered her name so that I could THANK her! Guest guest
Oh yes. I am in the midst of full-blown chronic fatigue, so on probiotics (and also antibiotics - except those make me incredibly depressed as well) I am 100% useless. Interesting. I am so excited to know I can make the cultured veggies with just salt and when I get some energy am planning to make the carrots. I avoided all fats for years, and now have horrible hormone issues, fatigue, etc. and I know that is an issue. I believe in fats now - it might take some time for my body to switch but that is interesting about fat and sugar burners. I will have to look into Dr. Rosedale. > > Yes - extreme exhaustion (just like I used to feel when I had full-blown chronic fatigue) is my reaction to the probiotics!
