I sometimes just toss a banana in the freezer skin on. It's fine for smoothies but it's a bit gooey getting it out if the skin. I think I have frozen most fruit with no problem. Sent from my iPadOn Feb 12, 2012, at 12:50 PM, Wes Thierry <westhierry@...> wrote:

I think if you use the vacuum machine it will cause your bananas, if

they are truly ripe, to be smushed together so that they will be more

difficult to break apart for use.

I would hazard a guess that they might not be quickly enough frozen. If

you are putting them in the freezer promptly after peeling/breaking

up/bagging, then check your freezer temperature. The reason I say that

is that when I got a new freezer after my old one (42 years old!) wasn't

able any more to stay at O°, suddenly my food began to freeze with it's

natural color, rather than pale or brownish versions of it's former self.

So I'd look into the temp of your freezer and the time it takes for

things to freeze solid.

Since it does squish them they are flatter and really easy to break apart...you can even do it while they are in the package before opening it upJaneOn Feb 12, 2012, at 1:24 PM, sjc wrote:I think if you use the vacuum machine it will cause your bananas, if they are truly ripe, to be smushed together so that they will be more difficult to break apart for use.

I always peel the bananas and then cut them in 3 or 4 pieces before putting them in zip lock bags.

In the case of vacuum sealing-I would freeze the banana in chunks on a

cookie sheet, then put them in a vac seal bag to vac seal, to avoid

mushing. Can't help you much as I am allergic to banana so only buy them

for family who eat them right away.

Sounds good....we cut in half, put in freezer bags, and then freeze them...works well.KathyOn Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 11:08 AM, Ronaye Manering <ronayemanering@...> wrote:

Hi!  I freeze bananas quite often and found this solution...at least it has been working for me.

Peel the  banana and wrap each one individually in saran wrap, or foil.  When I used to wrap them all together they would often turn brown,  but alone seems to work.Ronaye
