Guest guest
Lucille, Wow! That sounds great! Your idea of freezing the juice in cubes and making one bag per day sounds like a fabulous plan. I find I spend LOTS of time cutting up veges and fruits for my Vitamix. I like the idea of one day work for the rest of the week to eat. I have never put avocado or broccoli into my smoothies. I put them into most of the soups I make though. I'll have to try them in a smoothie. Today instead of having a smoothie I thought I'd make a juice. It tastes wonderful but a mess to make. Squeezing a nut milk bag (mine is nylon) takes time and doesn't get all the juice out. I have more than a cup of pulp left over - more than Rene did when I watched her video. I will dry it out and save it to put into something else, so it won't be wasted. I am enjoying the juice for breakfast a lot. Here are the ingredients I put in today and it made 2 big glasses: 3 kale leaves 3 Romaine leaves 1 bunch parsley 3 large handfulls spinach 1 beet with leaves 2 carrots with leaves 2 stalks celery 1/2 cucumber 1 inch ginger - that makes the juice I think 5 strawberries 1/2 mango 2 key limes peeled 1 apple Have a great day! Guest guest
I bought a bunch of rubbermaid icecube trays from Amazon. So last night I checked them out and 5 cubes = 1/2 cup of liquid. Having it in cubes you can just use what you want to drink at the time. Guest guest
Janet - do you really spent lots of time cutting up veggies and fruits? Do others cut them up too? I will peal skin off certain fruits, but I don't do much chopping. Amy Lucille, Wow! That sounds great! Guest guest
Yes, I cut up lots of food each day to go into the Vitamix. I cut them into about 2 inch pieces - not tiny. For instance, I cut an apple into 4 pieces. I tear the greens into pieces as I take the leaves off the stem. Prep work for eating a whole foods diet takes me a lot of time. This evening I tried grating carrots in the dry container to make the fermented ginger carrots. I have not tried before because whey was needed, but when I read that Lea Ann did not use whey and hers turned out good, I thought I'd try it. So, we will see how they turn out. The only problem is that my container is now orange from grinding 2 pounds of carrots to fit into one quart jar. How do I clean it? I tried dish soap, then baking soda and even hydrogen peroxide and it's still orange. Any ideas to get the orange out of my new dry container?
