Guest guest
http://www.homegrownalmonds.com/organically-grown-raw-almonds.html The link above is where I buy my almonds...I have talked to the people...they are in California. There website states that the almonds are raw, organic and unpasteurized. They are the best almonds I've had..I buy 30lb at a time B. Re: Storing almonds Keep in mind that unless they are imported from another country, they aren't truly raw. Our FDA decided that all almonds must irradiated or otherwise pasteurized, so you can't get true raw almonds grown in the States. They should be fine to store in mason jars (I have an attachment that vac seals my jars) in a foodsaver bag OR frozen-any method should be fine since they are unlikely to be truly raw. If they ARE imported and truly raw, you will want to be sure to get any air out with a food vac to prevent them from going rancid too quickly.>> Came on a sale on "raw" almonds and want to stock up. For long term storage, do you freeze as is or soak first and then freeze? Use foodsaver or not? Will probably use them mostly for almond milk.> TIA> Carol K>
Guest guest
There are some raw ones here, but they are very pricey. I have bought other things from these guys when they have a sale. http://www.therawfoodworld.com/index.php?main_page=product_info & cPath=100148_100241_100357 & products_id=1002847 > > From: berrywell@...> Date: Fri, 24 Feb 2012 21:26:45 +0000> Subject: Re: Storing almonds> > > Keep in mind that unless they are imported from another country, they aren't truly raw. Guest guest
On Greensmoothiegirl website Robyn has a group buy 2-3 times a year on raw almonds, etc. - have never participated as I live in Canada and the border mafiawould either confiscate it or charge you enough "protection fees" to nullify any savings.
