Guest guest
Hello ,Here is how I do it if I am going to freeze the pineapple:1) cut off the top and the bottom2) take the knife and slice down the sides from top to bottom, cutting off the skin in about one inch sections3) cut the pineapple in big round slices, then I cut the slices like a pie, first in half, then in quarters (or sixths) depending on the size of the pineapple.4) lay the pineapple wedges on a cookie sheet and place them in the freezer to flash freeze5) put them in a zip lock bag and in the freezerHere is what I do when I am using it fresh:1) cut of the top2) cut off a wedge the size of the pineapple I want to put into my recipe3) cut the rind off of my wedge4) place saran wrap over the exposed portion of the pineapple and return it to the fridge5) repeat the next time I want more pineapple :-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< On Feb 27, 2012, at 12:34 PM, Navarro wrote: Hi all, today I made my first smoothie using fresh pineapple. I totally don't know how to open the pineapple correctly. I had some chunks of the skin left on it as I didn't want to cut off too much of the pineapple flesh and waste it. Luckily my vitamix chopped it up real good. What I need to know is, what is the best way to peel and use a fresh pineapple. I don't need to know how to core it as I use the core part also. Thanks. Guest guest
I agree with Lea Ann. I do it exactly the same. I don't mind small amounts of the "eyes" which may remain when you cut close to skin, but if they bother you, my peeler has a rounded cup like tip on it which works to work around and cut out the eyes. You could also use a paring knife but be careful.
