Guest guest
I'm new here but need to ask about this green smoothy topic: I tried one the other day: apple, lettuce, spinach, celery, savoy cabbage, carrots, milk, protein powder. I was so uncomfortably bloated all day. Any ideas.Connected by DROID on Verizon Wireless
Guest guest
There are a couple of things that could have caused the bloating, but my hunch it was LIKELY the protein powder, rather than the veggies. Is it a soy based powder, and are there a lot of other ingredients listed? MANY protein powders are loaded with cellulose fiber, soy fiber, and other things which can cause extreme bloating. I suggest trying veggies without the protein to see if you notice any difference. Second, was your produce all organic? If not, the pesticides on commercial produce can cause upset stomach (no matter how much you wash them, the pesticides, waxes, etc. can NOT all be washed off) Try it without the powder, lets see what happens. I suspect that is the likely culprit. Keep in mind though, that if your body isn't used to high fiber, a smoothie can make you feel a bit bloated until your body learns to assimilate all of the good fiber (which is why an added powder is sometimes overkill) > > > I'm new here but need to ask about this green smoothy topic: I tried one > the other day: apple, lettuce, spinach, celery, savoy cabbage, carrots, > milk, protein powder. Guest guest
Hi a, I am curious about lambs lettuce, I have never heard that term before. What type of lettuce is this? Thanks. > > From: vampyre0462@...> Date: Sun, 4 Mar 2012 20:31:19 +0000> Subject: FIRST Green Smoothie Challenge> > For the most part we would use spinach, lambs lettuce. We always had some form of fruit. If we used mangos that was not quite ripe the smoothies would taste like sweet tarts. I tired the little gems once but did not care for them. > We are looking foward to the 2nd challenge. We are hoping to try other greens this time. > Thank you for the challenge and look forward to the next.> a
