I am sorry you are disappointed in your machine. Vitamix ROCKS...but not so

much the 748, as it is intended to do JUST drinks and smoothies, whereas a

proper Vitamix does it all, with stellar results, and rarely any let down! If

it were me, I would promptly open a case with ebay and get your money back, then

invest it in either a used 3600, 4000, or even contact Lea Ann on this group

about arranging a 3 payment plan on the newest Vitamix. You will NOT be

disappointed in the real deal, but the one you got is intended for blending bar

drinks, and isn't a fully functional Vitamix as we know them. NO, the videos

are not doctored-the Vitamixes designed for all purpose use will perform as

advertised. Sorry you are let down.

to Ohio from the west coast, it finally showed up today.

about putting an apple (cut into quarters), about 7 strawberries, a half a

frozen banana, 1 cup spinach and 2 cups crushed ice into it anticipating the

awesome power I've seen all over the internet.

all. Bring in the tamper. Tamp, tamp, tamp. Nothing. Blade spinning and

spinning (on high by this time) and nothing was getting sucked down into the

blade. Even what was getting tamped into the blade seemed to be doing nothing.

machine is advising me to only put in one thing at a time, and to start with

some water. I kept trying to explain that I can do that with my $50 blender. I

expect better from a THREE HUNDRED dollar blender. Honestly, I got kinda pissed

and cried.

calmed down. By then the ice had melted some and I tried again, this time only

putting about a half cup of ingredients in at a time. This time it did actually

blend, but I could see from looking into the container that it still wasn't

really pulling all the stuff from the top down into the blades. I tasted the

smoothie and it's grainy, hardly what I would consider adequate from a $300

blender that can supposedly grind grains into flour, seeds, nuts, etc.

really capable of? Are all the videos on the web doctored? Is this older model

just not cut out to do what the newer models claim to do? I really, really

would love to know the answer because I'm so disappointed. I was counting on

this to help me lose a much needed 100 pounds and now not only do I not have

that, I'm out $300 and my husband thinks I'm an idiot.

Tamp tamp tamp doesn't sound like I do I bang Dow with some force. Could that be

Oh Wow, thank you ! I sure wish I had known that before buying. I

searched and searched and searched and didn't see anything about the 748 being

just for drinks. Ugh.

I don't think I can make a claim on Ebay because the seller didn't do anything

wrong. It was my fault for being uninformed.

I guess I'll have to check into the Vitamix trade in program? I guess I could

relist on Ebay and hope someone else finds it worth some or most of the money I

spent on it.

Ugh. :(

Hello,I am so sorry this happened to you. I can absolutely understand bargain shopping, and how this happened. Your husband should focus on the fact that you were trying to save $ - you certainly didn't mean to get the wrong machine...As far as the trade-in with Vitamix… you can get more on EBay than the $100 trade-in through Vitamix.Have you considered a reconditioned 5200 for $379? On a 3-payment plan if necessary?

I agree with Lea Ann that you are better off reselling it rather than taking the

100 trade. I would recommend craigslist instead of ebay though-you can likely

sell it locally, immediately, and with no fees. I recently sold an old 4000

Vitamix on craigslist for 275!! Lea Ann can set you up with the payment plan

for a nice new one, then you can tell hubby you have found new friends in this

group that DO understand the need for a 400 dollar blender...AND we will help

you use it to its full potential and get your money's worth!

I would definitely try to sell it on Ebay or craigslist if I were you. I'd go

with Ebay over craigslist. My last post on craigslist I got inundated with porn

spam. I even got porn spam from the Vitamix forum site today. If you start low

or do buy it now, I don't think you'd have any trouble selling it. You can't

file a case with Ebay but does the seller accept returns? They might take it

back.
