So dissappointed. :( Vitamix 748

So, after waiting a week and a half for my Ebay Vitamix 748 (VM0100) to ship to

Ohio from the west coast, it finally showed up today.

I got home from work, unpacked it, washed up the container and tamper and set

about putting an apple (cut into quarters), about 7 strawberries, a half a

frozen banana, 1 cup spinach and 2 cups crushed ice into it anticipating the

awesome power I've seen all over the internet.

Turned it on. It blended what was immediately around the blade and that was

all. Bring in the tamper. Tamp, tamp, tamp. Nothing. Blade spinning and

spinning (on high by this time) and nothing was getting sucked down into the

blade. Even what was getting tamped into the blade seemed to be doing nothing.

My know it all husband who knows nothing about what I'm expecting from this

machine is advising me to only put in one thing at a time, and to start with

some water. I kept trying to explain that I can do that with my $50 blender. I

expect better from a THREE HUNDRED dollar blender. Honestly, I got kinda pissed

and cried.

I put everything away, dumped the ingredients in a bowl and came back when I

calmed down. By then the ice had melted some and I tried again, this time only

putting about a half cup of ingredients in at a time. This time it did actually

blend, but I could see from looking into the container that it still wasn't

really pulling all the stuff from the top down into the blades. I tasted the

smoothie and it's grainy, hardly what I would consider adequate from a $300

blender that can supposedly grind grains into flour, seeds, nuts, etc.

So, did I get ripped off on Ebay? Am I expecting more than this thing is really

capable of? Are all the videos on the web doctored? Is this older model just

not cut out to do what the newer models claim to do? I really, really would

love to know the answer because I'm so disappointed. I was counting on this to

help me lose a much needed 100 pounds and now not only do I not have that, I'm

out $300 and my husband thinks I'm an idiot.
