Guest guest
Thank you to the person who wrote you can use muslin to make nut bags! I ordered one online and I could have made some myself cheaper. So, today I went to JoAnn's and bought 1 yard of unbleached muslin for $2.00 and I can make a few nut bags different sizes for that price. Thanks again for the idea. Guest guest
You are most welcome. I started making them years ago when I couldn't find anything that didn't contain allergens for me in some form or fashion. I put jute cord in them to make a drawstring-makes it easy to hang them either over a bowl or on a jelly rack-I also have a hook above my kitchen sink that I hang them on, so they drain right in to the sink. They make wonderful sprouting bags too, if you want to sprout alfalfa, radish, mung beans, etc. > > Thank you to the person who wrote you can use muslin to make nut bags! Guest guest
Oh, Somehow I missed the muslin post, ! I may even have some and I always buy unbleached everything LOL And quinoa sprouts are absolutely sweet and yummy if you catch them the first few days of sprouting! I want to do the mung beans and these bags will be perfect Thanks, Sherri
Guest guest
I love quinoa sprouts! I prefer the red quinoa to the yellow-bit less earthy! They do beautifully in the muslin bags.Sent from my iPadOn Feb 29, 2012, at 9:05 PM, "sew_bz_it" <sew_bz_it@...> wrote: Oh, Somehow I missed the muslin post, ! Guest guest
Oh, and no special stiches-just a straight machine stitch, organic cotton thread. I use organic jute for the drawstrings. > > > Did you sew up the side or just draw string it? Guest guest
I have never tried quinoa sprouts. I'll have to try them. I made a mix this week - broccoli, radish & alfalfa sprouts in one of my new quart size jars with plastic canvas tops. I put one tablespoon of seeds and they filled up the whole jar. Thanks Rene for that idea. I never thought of it myself. I have shared this idea with my friends. I did try sprouting sunflower seeds and they just rotted. Do you need to use the seeds with the hull on? Janet
