Haven't tried that, but it sounds great to me. Have you Googled to see what others put into their "Black Bean Hummus" recipes?

I have made hummus out of many different kind of beans. Black beans make a

great hummus, but the color is different. This week I made hummus out of navy

beans and it is wonderful. You can use the same recipe just substitute beans.

Piggybacking on the hummus thread, I made hummus with roasted beets in the

Vitamix yesterday. Used a can of garbanzos and 2 roasted beets, garlic tahini,

lemon, salt. It made a great spread for a sandwhich with a collard wrap. If you

love beets and hummus, you will love this.

I also want to try making hummus with kalamata olives. I tasted some made

commercially and thought " why pay $5 for a specialty hummus when you can make it

quickly and easily in the Vitamix! "

Amen to that. Sounds lovely.

Think I'll try it. Have never roasted beets before though.

You just wrap them in tinfoil, and bake at 400 for 40 minutes or so. When they are done you can just pull the peel off. Add some sweet potatoes at the same time for another recipe. -janelOn Apr 1, 2012, at 12:51 PM, "Vicki" <j.ireland@...> wrote:

Black bean hummus is my next project. I am still messing around with the

liquid amount with garbanzo hummus. Seems I get it too runny or to dry.

This may be bad, but I personaly drain all the liquid from the cans and then add

back in lemon juice and olive or grapeseed oil. I can't say any amound, I just

pour until I like the consistency. I am very bad about measuring, sorry.

Okay, I made some and I think it turned out well. I have a new seasoning from

Tastefully Simple called Simply Salsa Mix. I will be the first to admit it is

overpriced but a co-worker was selling it like Princess House stuff. Anyway, it

isn't bad. Ingredients listed below:

http://www.tastefullysimple.com/shopourproducts/allproducts/simplysalsamix228108\

..aspx

I added a nice sprinkle, I don't like things too spicy but this has a nice

little bit of hotness.

I opened a can of black beans and added in about 3 tablespoons of the bebeans

and juice before I drained the rest of the can. Then I added in two large

garlic cloves. I also added about 5 lidfuls of lemon juice and a can of drained

chickpeas. I then added in some grapeseed oil. I used the tamper and I was

very pleased with the result. So this is a black bean hummus with a salsa

seasoning twist.

I do love beets, so I would enjoy beet hummus. The navy bean hummus I made last

week had spinach and artichoke hearts in it. Very good. I was wondering,

before I had my vitamix I bought spinach artichoke hummus and it is tan colored.

Why is it not green from the spinach like mine is? Just wondering.

I made this again with two cloves of roasted garlic and I also had some fire

roasted tomato seasoning. Going to take it to work tomorrow and see what

comments I get.

I made this recipe again and made another adjustment. I didn't think my last

batch was " loose " enough. I used a whole can of black beans with all of the

liquid and rinsed the chick pea can. I did add some olive oil but didn't need

as much. Am bringing this to a meeting tomorrow so I will let you know the

reviews. I only used one clove of roasted garlic this time.
