Guest guest
, Please keep me filled in on this idea. Do you know what hospitals this is being done at, etc? If it's going to be a for sure thing, I know the teens would love to learn about it. ----Original Message Follows---- From: Hansen <hansenj@...> Reply-onelist onelist Subject: Re: idea, someone is working on them Date: Fri, 10 Sep 1999 16:58:00 -0700 From: Hansen <hansenj@...> Hi and Louis, > From: " W. Yesterday I got a phone call from the Ministry of Education, a very nice person who is so generous with all the help she has given to Tori with regards to schooling. She knows a lot about Tori's situation. A while back she asked if she could use Tori as a case study along with other children severely affected by OCD, TS and/or AS. These were all children who have not been helped through conventional support systems that are already in place. It was announced to me that 5 hospitals will launch pilot programs in March. I don't know all the details yet. But they will provide assessments and programs for both health and educational needs. They will use a team approach working with children up to the age of 20. The goal is to give these children a good start towards a fuller and independent life by providing healthcare, education and lifeskills under one program. Imagine Government agencies working together... I hope this program works out and is not shelved. I'm sure there are many who need this specific help like our Tori. I hope Tori will be able to participate in one of these programs if and when they become available. Red tape can sometimes be cut through... I'm hoping. At least in all of this I'm glad that my voice has been heard by some of the powers that are, and that eventually better services can be provided to our special kids. :-) from Canada ---------------------------
Guest guest
This is great! There has to be something done and I hope that this gets people moving in the right direction for the children and families sake. Wishful thinking in Wa. Guest guest
Hi , It is terrific to hear that you are at least noticed!! Once you have more details, let me know and I'll check it out from this end. I hope that we are on of the chosen cities, but am not holding my breath! Hopkins' - OCD Family Study is interviewing Yigal and Tom this week. Soon they will come here to interview the girls. Again, just a little bit of authentication! Since you mentioned hospitals, I'm guessing that its not the Wrap Around Process. That is a program where you inlist professional and non pro's to resource and develop plans to help teens fit into a community. Each one is individually tailored to the teen/family.
