Thank you both, Lea Ann and Mirthfullady! I'm trying to use grocery items I already have in the house, so between the two, I should be able to come up with a decent sauce ...

I haven't checked if it's still online, but a few years back (when the iPhone first came out) I watched a couple of fabulous Gordon Ramsey cooking podcasts. One of them was for tomato sauce. It is fabulous and is blended. The vitamix is great for it. And, it's perfect for warm summer months, because it isn't cooked just blended.
