According to research, prolonged sitting is very bad for you - http://www.google.com/search?client=safari & rls=en & q=health+effects+of+prolonged+sitting & ie=UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8 I am somewhat active during shows, but between shows, I am very sedentary. After watching this video http://rebounding.tv/movement-yes-but-how-often/ , I downloaded the same timer onto my computer. Being the perfectionist that I am, I set the timer for every 15 minutes (instead of every hour). When it goes off, I do 10 jumping jacks. It only takes seconds, and I'm right back at whatever I was doing. As my strength increases, I'm going to add short, fast bursts of exercise such as squats, crunches, push ups etc. I find that doing VERY little exercise in short bursts all day long is bumping up the number of calories that I am burning, getting my lymph to move, and hopefully strengthening my out of shape heart! Before I got sick with chronic fatigue (starting when I was in high school) I ran or walked 4 miles a day. Now that I have adjusted my diet to a point where I have more energy, I have tried to start walking again, but I am a creature of HABIT and my shows break my routine, and I find that I can't get myself back on track when I get home again. This new plan (short bursts of movement/exercise every 15 minutes) is something that I am finding to be very doable, and I can take it with me everywhere!
