Dried blueberries are available commercially. I have some in my pantry I bought

at Balduccis this past Xmas for my fruitcake cookies I make each year. I use a

lot of dried fruit macerated in sherry. It's a really good pretty cookie. No

citron or that kind of fruit cake stuff

to find, I am sure. I grow my own. You might be able to find some elderberry

powder though-I dehydrate them and they make a blue tint powder. Dehydrated

blueberries will be a lighter blue than fresh, but they dry up very tiny. If

you made a yogurt or rice/grain/nut milk based smoothie, and added a bit of

dried elderberry or dehydrated blueberries, you could likely get a good result.

Let her help you experiment-6 is such a wonderful age to introduce them to

cooking! Maybe take her to the library and see if you can choose a cookbook (or

smoothie) book together and choose recipes from them. Take her with you

shopping for the ingredients. I got my daughter her own little red crockpot and

set of wooden spoons when she was 5 or 6, and she still uses them to this day,

and has always loved being in the kitchen trying new things (she will be 18 in a

few months)

You could make a blue potato soup w/blue potatoes. The costco near us usually has bags of multicolor potatoes. Here's a recipe for Blue Potato Souphttp://www.nytimes.com/recipes/5980/Blue-Potato-Soup.html

Also wanted to tell you that my husband makes a frozen drink w/blue curacao (you probably don't want to give that to your daughter), but it is VERY blue!On Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 4:02 PM, gotgreensrevolutions <gotgreensrevolution@...> wrote:

Molly, Blue is a hard color - there is not very much of it in nature. This smoothie with blueberries, peaches and purple kale comes out very close to blue (it is still on the purple side but is as close as I've seen to blue). The picture makes it more blue because of the glass being blue but that could definitely help with a blue color result.
