I look forward to others' favorite sites, too.

If you like cookbooks Sue (gasp, am I dating myself LOL) I really like

Deborah Madison for excellent vegetarian recipes.

Sue I agree there is a lot of conflicting information on the web. I for one make a point to search both side of an issue so I better understand both sides. I don't discount health gurus that want to sell you a books or products but I am highly skeptical of them. I am more apt to trust the message from hospitals, health groups and organizations. I am relatively new at the Vitamix myself but what worked for me was to study recipes and adapt them to the things I like. Once you get the feel for proportions I think you will find the rest easy. I say propitiations because many recipes are for multiple servings and if you are like me and only want a serving or two you have to alter the recipes. Keep in mind that the more fruit you add the more calories too if weight loss is important. Lately I have been making pear sauce, similar to apple sauce, and I have found a 1/4 cup or so to a smoothie add a great taste. I also like to eat it with cottage cheese. I think you have a good grasp on what you want and now all you have to do is put your research to work. These changes are basically to adopt *some* ideas of the raw lifestyle, mostly to incorporate green smoothies and generally more fruits, veges, whole grains, legumes, etc into my diet.I've spent weeks doing research, and what I've learned is that there's a ton of conflicting information (which I already knew) and lots of people who claim to be experts but have no real reason to make such a claim. I don't think it's going to be hard for me to just try different combinations to see what I like and how I feel. I'm struggling more with the *other* food that I need to eat. I can't drink smoothies breakfast/lunch/dinner. I need to actually EAT something too. I'm struggling finding a blog or website that just has some good sense, real-world, healthy recipes that incorporate things like legumes, whole grains, etc. I wouldn't have thought it would be so hard, but it has been. I've found plenty of raw-foodist sites but they're hard-core and I don't want to go that route. What are your favorite sites for healthy recipes? Please share! I agree w Sue.. I lean toward tested medical info and dieticians. Vs some get

quick Fast Flash in the pan Food Guru. My personal believe is you can consume

it without altering it too much it can be used.. but if it takes processing i.e

in a box..

for me I made small changes, adapted to those and then moved on to more. I know

with a big purchase like the VM we want to jump all in but I found getting use

to the change worked best.. I started with replacing my lunch with a protein

green smoothie . and then started makign my own Almond milk.. and salad

dressing.

.. then after adjusting to that moved to starting on my evening meals I am not a

vegan nor will I ever be but moving away from what you are use to into a new

mode take time. I found I needed to reset my taste buds a little to whole

foods. and herbs and spices vs breading and heavy sauces loaded with salt and

all sort of other un-named chemicals.. That wouldn't' seem like it would be

hard but when you have been eating a lot of processed foods the flavors are very

different. and I needed to tone down the seasonings to better taste the real

stuff. Also replacing things in the house. i.e getting rid of oily things other

than plan olive oil, coconut oil and a little sesame oil for flavor... was

another adjustment..

I learned to ROAST garlic and spread it on whole grain bread in place of

butter at the evening meal.. now it taste wonderful and much better .. simple

steps and not tooo too much at once made me it easier for me.

Yes, thank you for that reminder. I always do this... jump in with both feet

and end up quitting because the changes are just too drastic. S.L.O.W. and

steady!

I'm not saying that I trust doctors or the medical profession any more than

" gurus " , and in fact I have a general distrust of those professions, but I guess

I'm a little irritated by the fact that the internet has made it so simple for

anyone to proclaim expert knowledge of a subject when all they need to know is

how to create a website! Irritated because it makes finding REAL information so

difficult.

My distrust of the medical profession stems from their obvious lack of desire to

actually cure people and prevent disease. They opt, rather, for treatment for a

lifetime. They are just as guilty, in my opinion, of " selling " as the worst of

the internet gurus are, they're just selling drugs rather than books and

seminars. That's a whole other can of worms though.

Sue, I have a collection of smoothie, food (Raw, Cooked, Whole Food, Gluten Free, non GF, Paleo, ect) posted on my Pinterest boards...check them out.  I think it's a great way to be inspired by what YOU think is right for yourself diet/health wise.

Sue,My husband and I have been following a plant based whole food diet for about 6 months. I've checked a lot of websites, gathered a lot of recipes and even bought quite a few cookbooks. For the way we are eating, my favorite website has been http://fatfreevegan.com/Everything I've tried from her blog has been really tasty and healthy. has won several awards for her blog and has quite a following. Like you said, there are a lot of different opinions about what is healthy, but if her way of cooking appeals to you, I can attest to the fact that it all tastes good. Shari

That is also my very favorite website. Every time I need a recipe, that is the first place I look.
