Guest guest
Hi All,Does anyone have any ideas for making a blue smoothie? My 6-year old daughter asked me to make her a "blue" smoothie. I tried blueberries, but of course it turned out purple. Any ideas on how to make it more of a blue color (the things we do for our kids ? I don't want to use artificial color. Thanks!Molly
Guest guest
Hi, I do know there are many edible flowers out there, you might google that and even grow some, otherwise I think most 'blue' natural foods are purple. http://www.instructables.com/id/Blue-Foods-Colorful-cooking-without-artificial-d\ y/

Guest guest
If you can get your hands on some elderberries, they make a blue-but very hard to find, I am sure. I grow my own. You might be able to find some elderberry powder though-I dehydrate them and they make a blue tint powder. Dehydrated blueberries will be a lighter blue than fresh, but they dry up very tiny. If you made a yogurt or rice/grain/nut milk based smoothie, and added a bit of dried elderberry or dehydrated blueberries, you could likely get a good result. Let her help you experiment-6 is such a wonderful age to introduce them to cooking! Maybe take her to the library and see if you can choose a cookbook (or smoothie) book together and choose recipes from them. Take her with you shopping for the ingredients. I got my daughter her own little red crockpot and set of wooden spoons when she was 5 or 6, and she still uses them to this day, and has always loved being in the kitchen trying new things (she will be 18 in a few months) > > > > Hi All, > > > > Does anyone have any ideas for making a blue smoothie? Guest guest
Molly, Blue is a hard color - there is not very much of it in nature. This smoothie with blueberries, peaches and purple kale comes out very close to blue (it is still on the purple side but is as close as I've seen to blue). The picture makes it more blue because of the glass being blue but that could definitely help with a blue color result.http://gotgreensrevolution.com/blog/the-blue-green-smoothie/ To your health,>> Hi All,> > Does anyone have any ideas for making a blue smoothie?
