I wanted to share this resource list that kathy and I posted on the ocd

family list.

" Stop Obsessing " by Edna Foa and Reid . self help guide

" Tormenting Thoughts and Secret Rituals " by Ian Osborn, M.D. I really

enjoyed the history and practical side of this book.

Books by Fugen Neziroglu and Yaryua-Tobias deal with co-morbidity. An

example of a book is " Over and Over Again " and " Biobehavioral Treatment of

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders "

" How I Ran OCD off My Land " and now immortalized in Dr. March's and

Mulle's book, " Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in Children and

Adolescents " .

Dr. Lee Baer's " Getting Control " Dr. Bruce Hyman's and Cherryl Pedrick's

" The OCD Workbook " .

Dr. Gail Steketee's " Overcoming Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Behavioral

and Cognitive Protocol for the Treatment of OCD " and

Dr. Edna Foa's and Dr. Kozak's " Mastery of Obsessive-Compulsive

Disorder: A Cognitive-Behavioral Approach " which is a two-volume set of a

client workbook and a therapist guide.

Dr. Jim Hatton's, " Behavioral Therapy " Primer " for Obsessive-Compulsive

Disorders: An Individual Workbook and Psycho-Educational Group Manual for

Patients and Their Families "

Dr. Mark Freeston's and Dr. LaDouceur's " The Cognitive Behavioral

Treatment of Obsessions: A Treatment Manual " .

Dr. Schwartz's " Brainlock " .

" Emotional Overload: An adolescent's struggle with obsessive/compulsive

disorder " by ph Redden.

Dr. Herbert Gravitz's book, " Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: New Help for

the Family "

I highly recommend " Kissing Doorknobs " by T. Spencer Hesser. Its a humorous

novel about a teen with ocd and the struggles she goes through socially and

with her family until she is diagnosed. My daughter has lent her book out

numourous times and recommends it to ocd teens.

Other childrens books:

Personally, I really like " Blink, Blink, Clop, Clop: Why Do We Do Things We

Can't Stop? An OCD Storybook " by Katia Moritz and Jablonsky. The

book has lots of ocd symptoms and the animals learn to Boss Back the OCD

Flea!

For school, the book " Teaching the Tiger " by Marliyn P.Dornbush and Sheryl

K. Pruitt, is hightly recommended. It has lots of concrete suggestions for

OCD, TS (Tourettes) and ADHD students.

I highly suggest that the ocf publication list be accessed for ideas.

I hope this has been helpful,
