Guest guest
Elaina, Me too. I don't know the cause, but it only affects my right knee. Tt usually happens when I am on my knees or roll over to get up. It takes a few minutes to pop it back in. Never had it do this while standing. Guest guest
Hi Dave, Isn't it a pain to have bad knees. I remember after my surgery I was so afraid to do anything. I had this tremendous fear that my knee was going to go out again. Mine would just go out. The first time I was talking with friends and I went to take a step and out it went, but it went right back in again. Xrays were done and I was in a leg brace for about a week. It took about another year before it went out again. That time, again I was standing talking with friends and down I went. I felt that it had gone right back in again but my leg was still bent. When a friend tried to straighten my leg out a bone chipped off. The pain was so much I passed out. I think the big fear is that it can happen again, anytime, anywhere for no reason. It's just plain wierd. Elaina.
Guest guest
Hello, I missed part of the conversation, however I have had trouble with my knees since I was around 11 when I played basketball. I find now that if I get overtired that my knee cap it is my left one tends to come out of place or I have put on weight due to pregnancy that my knee is more apt to come out of place. I describe it like this my leg has it's own agenda going straight and walking and then my knee decides to take a left turn and comes out of place. It is very painful. I suppose I should look into a knee brace like the ones they sell at Walmart. Thanks Heidi
Guest guest
Heidi, The knee braces can be helpful but each time your knee pops out you can be doing more damage. You really should have it checked out. Just some advice from someone who's been there. Elaina.
Guest guest
Hi Elaine, Yes, I understand I should have it checked out, however in the past I did not have insurance. I will have insurance soon under my husband's work. It is also frustrating not finding the RIGHT doctor. They tell me there is nothing they can do for me for one. I am not on pain meds (nothing against people that take pain meds - they need it) so that is their solution put me on meds or two. Surgeries (I am not able to do that unless absolutely necessary I have 5 children with no help from family as my mom is gone and my husband must work. Plus I just try to do small things not go out and pick up heavy stuff. Knowing your body is your best weapon. I know when to relax, luckily my husband and kids help out a lot. They know when I am not having such a good day. I may look into a doc soon, but it some times makes matters worse for me as there is nothing they can do as there is no cure for CMT. I have accepted this is the way I always will be and comfortable with that fact. For I am fortunate to have 5 beautiful children and a wonderful husband. Thanks, Heidi
