Guest guest
Our orange juice is so full of pulp it might as well be oranges. Anything, or most any fruit that has been frozen will have the structure changed but that is of no importance in smoothies or ice creams. It wouldn't look pretty on a fruit platter however. Guest guest
I would be inclined to peel the oranges and separate the pieces, and flash freeze them so they won't stick together. Oranges would freeze just fine (to be used for smoothies, because if they are going to be used for smoothies, it doesn't matter that the texture changes a bit! :-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<))>< On Apr 15, 2012, at 10:20 AM, crenita2 wrote: Ok as I look at this HUGE bag of oranges I have was just thinking .. could I peel and freeze them ?.. Guest guest
Yes, I do this all the time when I peel an orange that isn't very juicy. I separate into smaller sections before freezing. Be aware tho that oranges do get foamy in the VM, so I don't like to use very much in my creations.
Guest guest
Just a little fun thing to do with orange peels....spread a little nut butter on them and set them out in a foil pan for the birds-your yard will quickly fill with bird, particularly orioles and other fruit loving birds...keep your camera handy! If you have any seeds (pumpkin, sesame, sunflower, etc. or grains such as quinoa, rice, etc. a sprinkling of that on top of the nut butter is good for the birds too! > > > Yes, I do this all the time when I peel an orange that isn't very juicy. Guest guest
I was thinking, if you ONLY plan to juice them on a cone type press or juicer they could be cut in half with peel on and frozen on a tray and bagged. I freeze my lemons in halves, in a baggy and when needed for the zest, I zest while frozen, then if wanting the juice, I microwave for 15 to 30 sec till barely thawed and they juice beautifully. I would think juice type oranges would work the same. Guest guest
I understand the whole thing with the VM company on one level, but another part of me says, because you are such a valued member of the VM sales team, they should welcome the sales you create by your VM labeled personae. Makes me wonder, since you have held the name for a while, if some jealous sales person, who does not give to the community as you do, complained and they (VM) were sort of forced to push the issue? We might never know. Velda On 4/16/2012 2:57 AM, Lea Ann Savage wrote: I would be inclined to peel the oranges and separate the pieces, and flash freeze them so they won't stick together. Guest guest
Thanks, . I wish we could do that here in the Seattle, but massive amounts of shrewd crows would show up and gobble up just about everything. Then the starlings would notice and they would be on the edges of the feed, trying to hop away with some crumbs. > > > > > > Yes, I do this all the time when I peel an orange that isn't very juicy.
