Janet,

It took me 4 years to get SSD and 2 hearings I got it

on the second hearing my first hearing the judge

didn't even know what CMT was and my lawyer wanted to

give him info on it and he said no and I lost that

one. Then my lawyer appealed and it took a while for

the second hearing and the judge was more under

standing she even took the info my lawyer gave her

because she didn't know anything about CMT that one I

won. The first judge was prejudice because of my age. I

was 32 when I applied. Try to get a DNA test to I had

that at my second hearing. Good luck and keep fighting

you'll get it.

Janet,

Good luck at your hearing! It's unfortunate that it wasn't scheduled until

after your EMG so you might have more ammo going in if they could diagnose you

with CMT, but hopefully it'll all work out in your favor as it stands right now.

Don't get too stressed, and remember to get lots of sleep. :-)

Dear Janet,

Keep the faith!..I've had all the symtoms for years and just recently found

a good doctor. Had another one who didn't even ask many questions, I filled

out the pain paper every month I saw him, but you'd think he'd be concerned

with the type of strong medication I was on.

I do need them, but when my hand went down completely last year in April, I was

told to check out a chiropractor, which I did, she said I was the worse case she

had seen in 21 years (the amount of her being in practice), then went to the

neurologist..Best thing I ever did.

She knew before the test what I had, and the test proved it. She only has 2

other patients with CMT, but knew just by talking to her and her seeing my feet

and my numbness and pain, she was right on the mark.

The best thing was, unlike other doctors, she understood and didn't question my

pain. I think it has alot to do with the factor people don't understand how can

we have numbness AND be in pain at the same time. They figure if you can't feel

it, how can you be in pain? I wondered myself for a long long time.

The best thing that happened was all the symtoms came together, I finally had an

answer. Now I can take it from there. A major step for me.

The funny thing is, I'm going for benefits now also, but when they ask when did

this start, was it from April 26th, when I went to the ER thinking I had a

stroke, but then again, I've had this for many years, just lived with it. I'm

afraid I'm going to lose my hand again, so want to get on with doing the

benefits before I can't write again.

Procrastination is not good to have in this case. I need to kick myself and

get going. I take Wellbutrin for depression. That runs in my family. A

prayer is in the works for you, like I said, keep the faith!!

Janet,

I just read your post. I hope things went well for you. Please try to keep your

spirits up and don't give up. You are NOT useless, rather, you are an incredibly

strong person who has perservered through many trying times.

My prayers are with you.
