Guest guest
Hi my daughter hates all her compulsions and would like them all gone. No compulsion is more bothersome to us than any other. The one she wants gone most is nail-biting, she bites continually through the day, her fingernails and toenails are sore of course and a few are nearly missing. But her doctor told me unfortunately this was a particularly difficult compulsion to address with cbt, or in any other way, so it didn't seem a good place to start. We're trying though, she bossed it back for one minute several times, and was really pleased with herself, then when she tried for two minutes she was in tears the last minute, she didn't bite but she came away very discouraged, it was a lot harder than she expected and ocd really turned up the " bad feelings. " Her dentist wants to affix some sort of appliance in her mouth that would prevent biting (similar to appliances that prevent thumb-sucking), I would like to know what the list thinks of this idea. Another compulsion she has is collecting trash, some at home but mostly when we are out, at the park or a Mcs or whever. I'd be interested how you would break this down for E & RP. And if you do have any ideas about the nailbiting, I'm all ears.
