I am thinking you could make a syrup using most any fruit, such as

strawberries and a sweetener of choice in the VM, which would be tasty.

Not sure what you can do if your children want some exotic such as

bubblegum flavor, but the natural ones should be easy, just give them a

weird kid friendly name.

We do snow cones a couple of different ways. We often puree our fresh berries

(we grow many kinds) and freeze them in ice cube trays, then just crush them for

an instant snow cone. If the berries aren't sweet enough on their own, we add

raw honey or agave nectar, or maple syrup before we puree them. You can also

make a simply syrup, and infuse whatever flavor you want in it. Our favorite is

ginger and fresh lime, but the possibilities are limitless...just infuse

whatever fruit/extract/peel/shavings/herbs (yes, savory herb/cucumber snow cones

are delish)!! in a bit of simple syrup of simmer in honey until the flavor is

where you want it.

Thanks guys... love the berry idea...

the kids will be facinated that the ice comes out of the blender... and they get

to flavor it themselves.. I am hoping to keep it as healthy as possible.. but

this may be the time to just say the heck with it and make a simple sugar syrup

and flavor it with their favorite Koolaid flavor..but will try the berry idea

first..

thanks for the ideas'..
