Spam Fliter will be turned off...

Sorry,

But for some CRAZY reason, none of the folks who stepped up to help me moderate

are GETTING the notices when a message is caught up in the Spam Filter.

We get on average less than one Spam message that gets through to the list per

month, but when the Spam Filter is ON, I get 20-30 REGULAR, NORMAL messages that

end up in that folder, and I have to single handedly approve each message.

So very sorry, but I just don't have the time for it.

So, a few Spam messages will get through now and then (on average one every

other month or so).

The best way to deal with those when they come through is NOT discuss them. I

know what they are when they come through. I delete them from the website, and

I put the sender on moderation (until they seem to be free of the virus).

Wish that was working properly, and my moderators were getting the

" Spam notifications " , but oh well…

:-)

If you heard it, they just let 2,000 people go, so doubt they'll be working

real well any day soon.

I've NEVER gotten a reply from Support whenever I've sent them a question. NEVER. We just have to be happy with what we have and work around it :-(

I don't know how all this works but another group list that I am on has the person who is asking to join the group enter a comment in a text box explaining why they want to join.  In the instructions on the group page is says that it doesn't have to be a lengthy comment.  It just lets the moderators know that it is an actual human who is asking to join.  Is this something that would help you keep out the spammers?

Lea Ann, you do so much already. This won't be any problem at all.

I do this Rena - and my moderators are getting the "Membership Request" messages so they can help me approve these memberships, but for some reason spammers can latch on to someone's legitimate email address and send out spam using THEIR email address. So, someone who is legitimate can be on our list, and then all of a sudden a spam message comes from THEIR email address to everyone in their address book.My son has a email account, and recently we got spam from him.A good clue that it is spam is if there are a LOT of addresses in the "To" field, and they are most often in alphabetical order. When the Spam filter is turned on, I get 15-20 messages (normal messages) hung up in the Spam filter per day, and if I'm out and about, that message doesn't get sent to the list until I get home! I have 3 people helping me to moderate and IF the "Spam Notifications" went to them for approval (like they are SUPPOSED to :-) there really wouldn't be much of a problem, because 4 people can cover more ground than one!Oh, well, I tried. And I really am sorry, but if we just ignore spam when it comes through to this list, we'll all be ok :-)Ways to identify spam:1) crazy non-sense wording2) nothing but a URL (link)3) many people in the address field "To" - often in alphabetical orderBlessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<:)))><
