Re: managing cold weather

For some reason I always get a chuckle out of it when someone in Florida

complains about

how cold it is!! :-) You made me laugh, probably without even intending to.

Up here in the Northern lower Michigan we have not just cold, but damp cold, and

it's

rough at times. I stay inside a lot and when I do have to drive somewhere if my

husband is

home he always goes and starts my car for me to get it heated up before I leave.

When my

hands get cold they're not really useful, but I still manage without gloves.

(Not enough

manual dexterity for warm gloves!)

A move to a much more moderate climate is in our future, we just don't know how

soon.

But, you know, it's humidity that bothers me more than anything. Hot and humid

and my

feet swell and ache a lot; cold and humid and I get chilled to the bone.

Right about now though I'd take Florida's " cold " over the temps in the teens

with rain on

the way this weekend then turning to snow again Sunday.

Hi :

Well you really would not like it here right now. It is exactly 30 degrees

outside with a brisk North/West wind. That makes it feel a lot colder - we

have wind-chill factors and the current temperature with the wind chill is

about 21 degrees.

I am about a 10 minute walk to the lower (southern) shores of Lake Huron.

This makes it extremely damp. It can go right through you if you are not

properly dressed. My biggest problem is my toes and fingers even with the

proper clothing and boots.

I'll come to Florida anytime. I have been to Florida several times to get

away from here for a week or two. Just like all the other " snowbirds " .

Keep warm anyway you can. It is not nice for us to get cold.
