Guest guest
I make a green smoothie every morning, and have no yogurt, milk (even almond or coconut) at least half the time. Does she not care for them without? Unfortunately I know about IBS, but for cats only ) Good luck, W On 4/12/12 11:45 AM crenita2 wrote: > A dear friend is suffering with this affliction and LOVES her fruit green > smoothies.. but after another bout of IBS.. she has been reading that no > yogurt or milk products.. Guest guest
She likes to use the smoothie as a meal replacement so therefore protein is important... This is the first bad bout in a long time.. She told me today she is SICK of eating rice and banana's .. Just got some probiotics... that seemed to have helped so far.. She said most of all she is missing her morning COFFEE...I give her credit I would have a hard time with giving that up and replacing with herbal tea. > > > A dear friend is suffering with this affliction and LOVES her fruit green > > smoothies.. but after another bout of IBS.. she has been reading that no > > yogurt or milk products.. Guest guest
I don't recommend it full time, but a protein powder might help. Peanut butter, beans too. The experts will soon weigh in though! Guest guest
I have severe Gastroparesis and its eerily mimics IBS. The worst thing is that no two persons with either disease are alike. I cannot do milk either, but I can do 2% in half cup doses when its a must in a smoothie. Yogurt, its easier on the tummy if she would thin it out before using it with a smoothie. Most of the time, I replace my milk ingredient with a low fat/sugar thinned out yogurt or just use another juice in its place. The most important thing I've been taught is that our bodies are all different, so the staple diet they offer for these diseases are what works for majority. Basically giving one a starting place. For her it is very important she keep a food consumption/ symptom diary. Also, if something makes one sick, use a smaller amount before taking it off your safe food list. Not in consecutive days of course, That's a GOLDEN rule for anyone with a motility disorder. Hope this helps, And this to shall pass; He brings things to pass not to stay! Guest guest
, how curious that your email popped up...I had you on my mind just a few minutes ago, wondering how you were doing! Guest guest
I've been awful at updating my beloved group. I have been traveling the roads a lot lately. I was FINALLY accepted by Dr Abell in , MS. He is world renowned in GP and motility disorder field. BUT, that man and his team is thorough lol. Since February, he has had me in with Neurology and Infections diseases doing 2 test per week to pinpoint what cause my case. I started passing out and they were sure since I was using my Vitamix to eat nutrient dense foods, its not caused by malnutrition. Last week they ruled out Cancer, thank God but am still waiting for my stomach biopsies. I now have to keep logs of my sugar, even though I'm not diabetic they think I have dumping syndrome to boot. So far they've found autonomic neuropathy, syncope and grade 4 terminal GP. You know how they are though, he says you've done well on your own but its not enough. I have until May 16th to increase my caloric intake to 1500 calories per day or feeding tube it is. So now im sipping lots of high calorie smoothies, trying to beat him out lol. Im still bed ridden, and still at 115 BUT I think you will all be pleased to know I've come off of all medication except occasional phenerghan. I've found ways to create anti-nausea drinks in my Vitamix. Oh if anyone would like, DHA.org asked me to write a piece under courageous stories on their website. Not my finest piece, I was incredibly ill, but it's raised some awareness locally One day at a time and one foot in front of the other, I am going to beat this. How dare someone tell ME terminal. Sorry I've not stayed in touch, just going through the motion's of being poked and prodded daily. I still read yalls emails lol and still try most of them. Thank you all so much for your continued love, prayers and support. Truly my 2nd family here. Oh , I kinda pulled a half move your making. We sold our house and downsized. With no insurance, the 350 ill be saving helps tremendously and that's just mortgage. The guys are actually moving stuff as I type. Love you all so much and if anyone would like details about all the test and diseases, please feel free to inbox me. Love you all so much, Barkley And this to shall pass; He brings things to pass not to stay! Guest guest
Boutenko (author of "Green For Life") does not recommend anything but fruits and greens and water/ice in Green Smoothies. As far as IBS, this might help:http://blenderlady.com/help-for-digestive-problems/The GAPS diet (she would have to Google for that) is a more advanced version of the "Specific Carbohydrate Diet".Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<))>< On Apr 12, 2012, at 1:45 PM, crenita2 wrote: A dear friend is suffering with this affliction and LOVES her fruit green smoothies.. but after another bout of IBS.. she has been reading that no yogurt or milk products..
