Learned the hard way (LUCKY for me mine worked after it dried out)BTW, a trash bag full of dumped out smoothie and "washing the container water" broke all over me and got into the same pocket where my cell phone was - it was an awful mess. A really nice employee took my shirt and apron home to wash it for me! Isn't the kinds of strangers heart warming!Anyhoo…If your cell phone gets wet IMMEDIATELY take the battery out and wipe it dry and DON'T put it back in for 48 hours! As long as there is no power to the circuits - they won't fry. Often your cell phone will work for a few seconds after it gets wet, but that is because the water hasn't seeped into the crevices yet. Don't risk ruining your cell phone!Wipe all obvious water off of your cell phone. Some people use a vacuum cleaner hose to suck water out. Stick your cell phone and your battery in a container and cover it with white rice. The rice will draw out the water. BE PATIENT! 48 hours later - put the battery back in and see if it works.

One can also use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) just pour some over the electronic circuit and it willabsorb the water. This is used in auto and snowmobiles to blend with any moisture in fuel tanks and gets burnt up.When I bought my metal detector the dealer said to carry a small bottle of this alcohol in case the machine fallsin the water or somehow gets wet - immediatly pull the battery and douse the electronics with alcohol. It dries very quickly and could save an expensive component.Dennis From: lsavage@...Date: Tue, 1 May 2012 06:43:07 -0400Subject: OT What to do if your cell phone gets wet...
