Guest guest
Keep Ibuprofen in your system for the aches and pains associated with the flu. I just got over it and that really helped take the edge off. Hoping for a quick turn around for you. Guest guest
Hi Tammy, Sorry you have the Big Yuck but I haven't had any problems taking Nyquil, Dayquil or Robitussin or even Coricidon or Sudafed since having CML. Both on Gleevec and on Sprycel. Feel better! L [ ] Sick/Flu help I feel so yucky.... help! I don't know where I picked this crap up... sore throat, headache and muscle aches. I can't handle the sore throat, but I know I'm not supposed to take anything. I'd like to take some Nyquil... can I? If not, what can I do for this sore throat? I'm miserable. No fever though. Thanks, Tammy

Guest guest
Hi Aliza, I don't know anything about how or if the by-pass could have an effect this many years later but I suspect that enough time has passed that it shouldn't be a factor with the Gleevec. I will tell you though that I too had shortness of breath and tachacardia for a couple of years after I started Gleevec. I went through all the routine testing (holter monitor, stress tests, EKG's and lung function tests) but nothing was ever found so I assume it was Gleevec related in some way but not anything to be concerned about. Since walking 3 miles a day for 2 years, I've found that the shortness of breath is minimized and my resting heart rate also came down a bit. I was never out of shape to begin with but I guess the extra activity does me some good. Take care, Tracey > > not to minimize lisa's passing but i have a question:i ask here on the group > because i don't think anyone can answer it better than those of us who are > dealing with the many emmotions that cml and the meds, and thier symtoms can > provoke: now i had a coronary bypass (3)15 yrs ago i was 49 yrs. old and lately > i've been geting arm pains again and periods of shortness of breath only > since i started gleevec not to say that gleevec is causing it but thats the time > i began feeling it again, since then,11/2yrs ago i had a complete stress tes > t and passed it.I hav gone into er several times and had ekg and thats > normalthe next step would hv tb angiogram does anyone have info on the dangers of > bypass sergury after dx and treatment with gleevec? > my doctors are at best vage with thier answers and indirect > aliza yaffa rochester n.y. > > > > **************Planning your summer road trip? Guest guest
Hi I was diagnosed with CML in 1995 and treatedwith low dose interferon until 2002. I was diagnosed with unstable angina in 1999 and had a heart bypass. My recovery was relatively uneventful, and at 79 years old I feel that I am doing well. Guest guest
Hi Walt, I am 78 and was also dx in 1995, only on Interferon 9 weeks. Then Hydrea, and in 2000 was lucky enough to get into the gleevec trial in Portland, OR. I'm in the Sprycel trial now, but not for long, it is no longer working. Eva, if you're reading this, I well recall a pain in the upper left back, sorry to say it lasted a few weeks, maybe a month. My nurse told me it was the Gleevec killing the leukemia cells. But fortunately those aches and pains will diminish, and your life will get back to normal. Good luck, Bobby waltseldon@... wrote: Hi I was diagnosed with CML in 1995 and treatedwith low dose interferon until 2002. I was diagnosed with unstable angina in 1999 and had a heart bypass. Guest guest
Hi , Bobby Thanks for the info , I am not crazy. Well this hurts like hell, but if it is getting the bad stuff...I can handle it ( I think ) . It is a bit better today , made myself get up and get dressed and I am going to try and get a bit of house work done. I hopefully can go to work tomorrow if I can suck it up.
