Guest guest
Hi Pam, your story was very touching. The loss of a husband must be one of the hardest things we may have to experience in life. It is also sad when you try to share something that is so healthy for you with others and they don't want to use it in their own life. (Hopefully you will have better luck with getting your friends and relatives interested in k-tea this time around.) I just wanted to say welcome as well, you've joined a very friendly group who do take their health seriously, I will send you some information through your email address, since things may have changed a little since you first started making the tea years ago. God bless, Jeani kombucha tea@...: pmwatt@...: Tue, 17 Jun 2008 10:59:49 +0000Subject: New member HI,My name is Pam, and I live in the foothills of western North Carolina, USA.YEARS ago, a friend of mine at work brought in this ugly gelatinous blob and said it was a Kombucha baby. She began to tell us about the benefits she personally had seen in her health as a result of drinking the tea. Out of a department of 19, I was the only one brave enough to try it, and discovered for myself the difference in how much energy I had, and how much better I felt! (although I hadn't realized I felt BAD!)I brewed the tea a couple of times a week, printed off everything I could find about it, and went on a personal mission to get all my friends and family to try it.....unfortunately, not a single one was brave enough to get past the ugly blob...lolTwo years ago my husband died at the age of 52 with pancreatic cancer. We have 5 children and at the time of his death 3 are still at home. I was plunged into such despair by the sudden loss of my mate, partner and best friend, that most things in my life, except the children, suffered great negligence, and my SCOBY shriveled up and died after months of just sitting on the counter with no attention.Time and prayer has healed me, and given me back my life, and I am anxiously looking forward to once again reaping the benefits of useing Kombucha. More than ever I need the energy, stamina and good health it offers, to keep myself strong and healthy...remember those three kids?....well they sap my energy most days, and I have come to realize how much I NEED to be drinking the Kombucha tea.I am wondering if anyne in NC, or close by might be willing to share a baby and a little starter tea to get me going? I would be happy to purchase it and pay for shipping.Thank you for allowing me to join the group and I look forward to re-learning and growing stronger physically, and emotionally as part of this community.Thank you so much,Pam _________________________________________________________________ Earn cashback on your purchases with Live Search - the search that pays you back! http://search.live.com/cashback/? & pkw=form=MIJAAF/publ=HMTGL/crea=earncashback
Guest guest
Thank you Pam! Let's give it a few days and see if anyone a little closer comes forth, (I have mailed some folks off the files list of people willing to share)...and if not I will certainly contact you again.. You ALL are so friendly and warm...this already feels like exactly where I need to be...thank you ALL for your responses, and your welcome. Guest guest
Pam, I am very sorry for your loss. I am also a new member, but I did lose my dad to pancratic cancer and I am living with lupus. I know this sounds like a soapbox, but I just went to a new rheumatologist and he seemed amazed that I was diagnosed with lupus. It is no slight on the specialists that have seen me, but a real testament to the strength of a healthy diet fortified with KT, rest and stress reduction. I am really sorry about your loss. Get strong and good luck finding a scoby.

Guest guest
Hi Val and everyone,  My name is and my daughter is almost 5. She has been fevering since she was two, around the time she went from in-home daycare to a more center oriented place. We figured that the fever and recurring sickness was from exposure to new germs. It wasn't until 6 months ago that she was diagnosed with .  Her fevers range from 105-106 every 2-3 weeks with a very sore throat, mouth sores, headache and during the last week she has been complaining of a very sore neck, sore to the touch even.. The pediatrician believes that the neck pain/soreness is likely from her lymph nodes being swollen and because of the recurring sickness they never get a chance to go back to normal.  We are awaiting a consultation with an ENT later this month after seeing the article a few weeks ago on the cover of the Heath section of the Washington Post, which was mentioned in another post by someone. The link is here - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/20/AR2008062002501.\ html  We used predisone for a while to quell the fever but found that the fevers would just return in about a week, so we stopped using the Orapred tablets and now just help her while the fevering persists.  Thanks so much for including me in this group. It's been enlightening and reassuring. All the best to all of you.  Thanks,

Guest guest
Hello e, Statins DO NOT PREVENT CORONARY HEART DISEASE. The drug companies admit this in their adds. Statins are not a preventative, they are a risk reducer. For people like you have had a major coronary event (secondary prevention group) statins will only reduce your risk by 4% over a 5 year period. This means that in order for you to experience a lousy 4% benefit, you have to take the drug AND SUFFER FROM ITS TOXIC SIDE EFFECTS for 5 years. ITS NOT WORTH IT!!! Save yourself the trouble. Take your CoQ10, Vitamin C, Omega 3 fish oil, magnesium citrate instead and take good care with your recovery. phine > > Hi everyone, I am new to this group and live in the UK. Guest guest
Hi e, I know that people are having problems taking statins, myself included. But my adnice to you is to have a talk with your regular doctor before stopping any medication. I know that some people in the group would argue with me but I have to say it anyway. Each and every one of us are different. What works for some may harm others. And even though I have muscle and joint pain that is contributed to my medications I have been told by 4 different doctors that I need to take my medications. But I am different than most, I have some very rare heart problems. So there again I say we all are different. Most people cannot take the meds I take at the dosage that I have to take them. People I know who take some of the same meds and have problems and I take 2 to 3 times stronger and they do not see how I can do it. The amount they take knocks them out. Even different lab techs I know ask how do I manage to get around taking what I am taking and at the strength I take it. I know that I am probably making some in the group made but I would rather make some made than not say something and something go wrong with your health. Best wishes.. Guest guest
Hi Bobby, I wish I could tell you why. All I can say is I have seen 4 different doctors at 3 different places. Three doctors are cardio. and one is internal medicine. The internal medicine doctor is local to were I live and my family doctor. The one cardio, who saved my life when I had my 2 heart attacks, is in birmingham alabama. The other 2 cardio are at the HEART INSTITUTE at St. Hospital in nashville tennessee. Guest guest
Hi Bill, I guess you are really lucky to be able to tolerate those nasty statin drugs the way you seem to do. The problem is that the drug is marketed as working for everyone and not just for some. If the drug is meant for some people, then the doctors should be very selective in whom they give the drug to which they are clearly NOT! You have muscle and joint pain which means that your statin drug IS affecting your muscles. That would be ALL of your muscles including your heart. BEWARE!!! Remember, the drug ads say that statins don't prevent heart attacks or heart disease. Believe it. Taking your statins will not prevent you from having a coronary event. All it will do is lessen your risk by a lousy 4% over a 5 year period and cause you to suffer from those nasty side effects. It is criminal for doctors to know about these side effects and keep doling out the drug and allow patients to suffer this way. phine > > Hi e, > I know that people are having problems taking statins, myself included. I had a stroke 3 months ago and was put on simvastatin, I am looking to discontinue this and wonder if it is safe to just stop taking them.I started taking 100mg Co Q 10 as soon as I was put on the statin.I am trawling through all the posts on this group and finding it all very informative, it is slow going though as my eyes were damaged by the stroke. Many thanks for any information.Cheers,e
Guest guest
Hi , I am a big fan of food However the food I eat has no preservatives, no enriched foods, salt or sugar except what is naturally occurring in my fresh food diet. I got this great book FILLED with liver friend foods that help your body deal with this monster called Hep C. I have had my PhD nutritionist look at it and my Mayo Doctor and all say its great and the proof is in my great blood work etc. The name of the book is " The Liver Diet " by " Dr. Cabot " . You can order it at any book store if they do not have it on the shelf. Yummy foods!!!! I eat like a pig and gain no weight! Because I am ESLD I have to eat small meals 6 times a day. I am fighting this Dragon with Traditional medications and food only The food thing is something I have done all my life. I never used traditional medicine until this happened...never had to. I was always healthly and never sick until the Dragon raised his ugly head in Dec of 2007. They believe I showed no symptoms because I ate so well and did not drink or do drugs. So I stayed healthy until ESLD!! I looked and even tried a few of the alternative miracles and its all a bunch of crappola. The vitamin supplements and diet should all be fine tuned to your particular stage of disease and symptoms. I use traditional Doctors and a PhD Nutritionist. For instance I retain fluid (ascites) potassium, Iron and my ammonia levels are steadily climbing. Based on that we have tweaked my diet in the following ways: I can only eat foods that have not been enriched (loaded with iron). I can only have 250 mg of salt a day to keep fluid at bay. Most people can have 2000mg per day. My protein is a combination of plant based protein's and chicken and fish only and I can only have 60 grams of it per day. This helps keep my ammonia levels down which helps with the brain fog. So yes it is VERY complicated and a good book with recipe's for people with liver disease and a PhD nutrionist (not a regular nutritionist) can help you sort it all out. Once you have the new diet in place in time it will not be so complicated. Liver diets are allot of veggies and cooking. I love spaghetti and make up a big batch of salt free, preservative free sauce that I freeze. Finding a spaghetti, linguine and shell pasta was difficult but eventually I found some. I add shell fish or chicken and its very very good If its in a bag, box, jar or can its most likely very bad for damaged livers. I have found a few exceptions. I ramble.... get the book and the PhD Nutritionist and it will make living with the Dragon more bearable and learning how to eat healthy a breeze. I know it has for me. I love to share recipes especially my desert ones so if you ever need a good recipe just let me know I've been eating like this for many many years and know allot about foods that heal a sick body. NOT HERBS!!!! never ever take herbs with out an experienced alternative Doctor on board!!!! Herbs are medicine and I was told by my Shaman never to muck about with herbs as it can and does cause bigger problems if used incorrectly. I am so far gone that they cannot help me anymore. > > Hi.
