Guest guest
Try going to http://www.state.ny.us Then click on Health Then click on Health Insurance I think there are a couple of different programs. One being " Healthy NY Program " and " Family Health Plus " . Maybe you qualify for one of those - they're based on income and your financial resources. health insurance probs Hiya there. Not sure how many can help on this but what do people do about health insurance?? I ask because i am basically unemployeed. and when i was employeed they didn't give me any health benefits. My father was getting it through his work somehow so it wasn't that bad but now he is on the verge of losing his job. so I have to get it all by myself and that is apparently $300 a month. yeah now you tell me how i am suppose to afford all that. I just assume say forget that i wont have any. but as you all must know that isn't allowed especilly for a woman who needs to have yearly checkups and all that fun exciting stuff. anyone have any ideas??? aside from complaining arguing over why we even need insurance and how stupid it all is. I don't see why i can't just pay full price for services i need wheni need it vs paying for insurance just in case. insurance should be an option like an extended warrenty for a TV not a neccessity. I should be able to take my chances that is how it was suppose to work when they created insurance. now apparently you NEED to have it or else you can't get health care that is a bunch of crock a doodle doo. anywho... you have ideas or suggestions as to where you get yours from (those who also don't have the privledge of being fully employed) that would be great. Guest guest
I wish I had a good answer for you, but I don't. Other than getting a job that provides health insurance, of course. I know NY has an insurance program for families, maybe just the children, of those who can't afford insurance. I didn't know you couldn't just pay as you go. Lack of insurance is a huge issue for more and more people, even those who are employed full time. Beth www.soapandgarden.com Be good to your skin! Guest guest
Yes, you do need health insurance. Everyone does. I voted for Barack Obama hoping he would somehow manage to get coverage for all Americans. I am a sheep farmer and would LOVE to stay home on the farm but I feel I have to work at a job that provides health insurance for myself and my husband. I am utterly irresponsible about many things but not that. I often become envious when I hear about people not working jobs they don't like even though they would get health benefits. I don't allow myself that luxury. Sure I could manage financially on my little farm business if I had the extra time to put into it, but I go to a job I'm not crazy about for the sake of our physical well-being. I couldn't sleep at night knowing we were not covered. Matt is a carpenter and has all kinds of problems with joints, etc. I like to know I can take him to a doctor or clinic and get him what he needs without being treated like an indigent. It's tough taking personal days to travel to shows, making soap on weekends, vacations, etc. but that' just the way it is. I dream of a day when farmers can be farmers and artisans can do their creative work and still be protected by our government. They say there's not enough money for universal health coverage, but they always find enough money for WAR and BAILOUTS don't they? Guest guest
well im not going to start something about the war but just making a point that everyone forgets about or doesn't even think about. and that is the fact that MANY of our soldiers believe they are doing good being over seas and they do not only feel but know because they can SEE first hand all the good that they are doing. something that you only hear first hand from the souldiers who come home. they are angry at us because it seems we turned our back on all the good they are doing by wanting it all to end and by bringing them home. which is one reason we did NOT vote for obama. Many soldiers who have come home want to go back. We are selfish if all we want to do is bring them home and end it all. We know people in afganistan and Iraq. They are proud of the work we(they) have done to help the poor people, the good people. We have so many furtunes to ourselves that we take for granted and those soldiers know it and are doing what they can to make things right. TO say we wont fund them and to bring them home no matter what is wrong, unamerican and inhuman. ok im done. I have been holding that in for soooooo long. it is just something we feel around here having people in the military and having them not get the recognition they deserve. and this is exactly how hey feel. the media only lets us know of all the things bad overseas, they NEVER mention any bit of the good our soldiers are doing. peace too all for thanksgiving and we should all behappy with what we have. insurance or no. we have a roof, food, freedoms and rights. > > From: Koalas Boutique <Koalas_boutique@...> > Subject: health insurance probs > > Date: Sunday, November 23, 2008, 11:51 AM > > > > > > > Hiya there. Guest guest
Good morning! I've been lurking for a while now, so odd I guess that I should choose this post to respond to... In any case - health insurance had always been a bit of a sore spot for me (and currently I am ashamed to admit that I am leaching off the state for mine, being unemployed), so I can well sympathize with this issue. Besides noting that I am astonished to read that you cannot pay-as-you-go (and disregarding the easy pit-falls of the war debate), the best advice I can share is that you should look into banks that offer tax-free savings-accounts for health expenses - certainly better than over-paying for services you won't necessarily need, and recognised as 'health insurance' money - best of all you are free to access the money if necessary for un-for-seen expenses, since it's technically YOUR MONEY. There are a number of banks that now offer this option, though I don't know which are accessible in your area. I wish you the best of luck in resolving this issue - lords know you aren't the only one suffering! Have a beautiful weekend!! Draes >111 > Hiya there. Guest guest
lol lol lol silly me i almost hit send without even typing anything, can you tell it is morning??? Thank you all for your suggestions, I will definatly look into all of them. I knew there would at least be someone who would be in the same boat who could help. I have seen the commercials on tv for the family care thing. since i am single no family and 29 i am unsure if i quality as a family so i never thought to check, plus i didn't need to worry about anything. but i will look into it and the bank thing. first proplem is figuring out how much i make each year. lol this year has been a crazy one. i knew there had to be something. I know there are alot of people who are full time home crafters/soapers and many who are full time mysteryshoppers. and i wondered how they got insurance though i do also know many are covered under a spouse. i don't have one soo... anyways thanks for your help. happy thanksgiving to all and to all a successful black friday. lol lol (just thought id throw it in there) > >111 > > Hiya there. Guest guest
AMEN! I've been working for my company for over 10 years now, and had to purchase my own insurance through the company, because the government contract that they company won for my department did not include health insurance. Insurance started at $238 monthly/single, all the way up to $427 monthly/single for the first 9 years. Families had to pay twice that if they wanted coverage. It was a nightmare when one of the girls in my department had to go to the doctor. I would hear their sobs stories for weeks on end about the costs. Or about how they went to a doe-doe doctor [a quack, really] and never got better, only to wind up in a hospital bed with more bills. I paid for insurance and deducted it on taxes. Without health, all the money in the bank, won't cure you. Just this past year, my company decided to make a handful of us, their employees and not a contract employee. So now I only pay less than 30 dollars weekly. What a relief!
