Guest guest
My letters are all addressed and ready to go into the mail. [ ] Letter to Senator/Representative Hi gang, OK, we're not even close to 50 who've agreed to send a letter but I can't let those down that have agreed so I did write a letter and it's in the " Files " section on the website for the list. It's called " Advocacy Letter for list.doc " . You should be able to download this to your own computer (double click on the file, then " Save as " to your computer). If that doesn't work, open it up and copy and paste to a document on your computer. Here's what you need to do: Find out who your 2 senators and 1 representative are. Find your senators and their addresses using http:// directory.usayfoundation.org/ and find your representative using this link https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml Change the name and address information in the letter, the salutation, and your own name and address on the bottom. Also change anything in the body of the letter that you want. Or elaborate on your own personal story if you like--just try to keep the letter to one page as that's kind of a rule of thumb for these types of letters. Print and sign your letters. Address an envelope for each letter and mail the 3 letters. Let me know that you've sent the letters and I will let the LLS know that you've done this. They would love to know that patients out there are getting involved. If anyone needs help with any of this, please feel free to email me on the list or privately--I'll be happy to help in any way I can. Thanks so much for the help of everyone who is doing this. Believe me it really does make a difference. We are alive because others have fought for funding for research in the past and we really do need to get involved if we want to find a cure. Best wishes, Dorothy Emery
Guest guest
Thanks so much! Can you tell me who your senators and representative are so I can put them in a list and tell the advocacy group at LLS who got a letter? Thanks again. Guest guest
Hi Dorothy, Again, I would like to thank you for all the hard work you are doing. I put my letters to both senators and state representative in the mail this morning so you can mark me off your list. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to assist. Guest guest
Hi Carey, You only need to send to one representative--only the one for the district in which you live. This is the link to find your representative: https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml You put in your state and zip code and it gives the name and address of your own representative. BTW, we live in the same state--I'm in North Carolina as well. I'm north of Charlotte (Lake Norman)--where are you? Guest guest
Hi Don, Thanks so much for sending the letters! What state are you in and who is your representative? I'm putting together a list of which senators/ congressmen got letters so I can let the LLS advocacy group know. They like to know when they have this kind of support. Guest guest
My rep is Abney Culberson and the two senators are Kay Hutchison and Cornyn for Houston, Texas My letters are in the mail today so are my daughters and my dad. My dad's rep for Pasadena, Texas is Honorable Gene Green and he has the same senators as myself. Find your senators and their addresses using http:// directory.usayfound ation.org/ and find your representative using this link https://forms. house.gov/ wyr/welcome. shtml Change the name and address information in the letter, the salutation, and your own name and address on the bottom. If anyone needs help with any of this, please feel free to email me on the list or privately--I' ll be happy to help in any way I can. Thanks so much for the help of everyone who is doing this. Believe me it really does make a difference. We are alive because others have fought for funding for research in the past and we really do need to get involved if we want to find a cure.
