Guest guest
, I, too suffer from this. I know that my skin is more sensitive now that before I started Gleevec. I also get this when I drink any wine, and it has now just happened with Bialy's Irish Cream. I don't drink very often, but one in a while I like something especially when we are out celebrating a special occasion. I now don't drink anything at all, because I don't want the burning feeling that I get. It feels like I am on fire! @...: vegasrnjen@...: Wed, 23 Apr 2008 23:41:21 -0400Subject: [ ] Heat and skin Hey all-I was wondering if anyone is experiencing this.....I have very dry skin and it is very sensitive with the meds from CML. What is happening is if I get hot or start to sweat, my skin starts burning. I really notice this over my face. Of course, it is worse outside but I can be simply doing housework and start just getting hot and my face will burn. If I go outside in the sun, within 5 minutes I have splotches of red patches on me. Now, I must say I am a red head and fair skin but it was never like it is now. I mean even in the shower if the water is too warm, my skin turns bright red. I am very nervous what this summer will bring. We are going to a cardinals baseball game and my hubby went to the store and bought me a hat, sunblock and a mens workout short that is long sleeve so that I wont burn. It sucks that I have to wear a long sleeve shirt when I'd like to be wearing a tank top like everyone else but I cant afford the sunburn or the sun poisoning. Was wondering if it is all CML med related or if some could be from hormonal. It is definitely worse over the last year or so. And seems to be worse on Syprcel then it was on Gleevec..........Just wondering........... Guest guest
Hi and , Add me to the list of red hot skin sufferers. I honestly don't know if the meds have anything to do with it but my feeling is that our hormones are involved in some way. Sometimes I'll be sitting on the couch, doing nothing, and all of a sudden my face turns bright red and becomes hot like fire (so hot in fact that it actually hurts a bit). My husband and kids have commented on how scary it looks. I think they're worried that my head is going to explode ...lol. Other times I'll be doing very menial work (like washing the dishes) and it'll happen to my whole body. I have to stop what I'm doing because I get so hot and sweat starts to pour off of me. I've been on Gleevec for over 6 years but this red hot flushing business has only become a problem in the last year. I don't think I'm menopausal (being only 37) so I don't know what it is but it's not fun. Take care, Tracey --- In , Cohen <scrappygirl123@...> wrote: > > > , > > I, too suffer from this. Guest guest
Tracey, I have forward your e mail to Dr. Mauro, and explained that there are some of us out there suffering from the same thing. I have asked him to consult with Dr. Druker, and see if there are more of us. Yes, sometimes my face gets so hot, that I need a cool washcloth to help with the burning. @...: traceyincanada@...: Thu, 24 Apr 2008 17:17:23 +0000Subject: Re: [ ] Heat and skin Hi and ,Add me to the list of red hot skin sufferers. Guest guest
Me Too-- I hardly recognize myself anymore when I look in the mirror--I have bright red cheeks and if I have a sweat or a hot flash, they positively GLOW. I feel like I could be a traffic signal out in the street! I have used the Eucerin products for relief of redness, and they have helped some--they feel nice and soothing and have something in them for redness relief--I think it might be licorice extract. Anyway, they do not hurt, and my skin is dry and sensitive so it is nice to have something soothing to put on, and if it helps the redness in the long run, that is a bonus. I have looked at some of the rosacea websites and they have lots of helpful information, too, including links to cosmetic websites where they sell products specifically to reduce facial redness. A bit pricey, though, but it might be worth it if it really works. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for trying to get the doctors attention on this. I know that women on Gleevec have complained about various hormonal problems for years but to no avail from the researchers. Let us know if you find anything else out.
