Guest guest
Does oral thrush involve a thick or a thin coating? Mine is thin but impossible to get rid of. I'm also very prone to developing canker sores, which hurt a lot. Could that be Candida related? ---------- >From: ethansc@... >candidiasisegroups >Subject: Re: Candida books.. what's good? >Date: vier., 19 ener 2001 03:42 > > Paco, > > I don't have those symptoms but maybe it's oral thrush. Guest guest
Have you tried L-lysine for your canker sores? My husband gets them almost monthly and he takes about 500 mg. 3 times a day and first it reduces the pain and then they disappear. Do a search on this. Guest guest
Hi, Why have you been having so many HIV tests? Please I am prying alittle not judgeing. I had a family member am uncle that was guy and died from aids so I am open to the talk. Do you have the symptoms for candida overgrowth? You should take the spit test tomorrow morning. You must first thing before putting anything in your mouth spit in a CLEAR glass of water. If within 30-45 mintues the water turns cloudy and or you have stringy thing looking like leggs you know you have this problem. You need to do some research regarding candida. You may also benefit by doing a liver flush. go to www.curezone.com and check out the candida forum and there is alot of great forums there. My name their is raider. God bless, mona
Guest guest
Hi Mona, Thanks for the reply. I have had 12 HIV tests over the last two years and they are all negative, but I only got thrush after I stated doing the tests. I am taking two garlic tablets three times a day and gargle with tea tree three times a day. I seem to have good days and bad days, but my vision is really bothering me. I don't know what else to try? ta Mike oral thrush Dear Mike, Oral thrush ( white coating on the tounge) Is also caused by over growth of yeast usually caused from candida most who have this do not have HIV it is usually caused from antibiotics, stress, poordiet. Also sometimes the white tongue is caused from our livers being toxic. there are more reasons then HIV for this problem. What are you taking for this problem?\ Blessings, mona
Guest guest
HI Mike, Oral trush is a simptom from a lot of disease, but not only AIDS, if you are HIV negative and you are not in a risk group it is possible that the trush are related to other diseases, (well, first are you sure that the trush are due to candida? I mean a culture positive to C albicans from the plaques), some of this disease may be Diabetes, corticosteroid therapy (immunosupressive therapy), thiroid disease, endocrine disease, some proble at the thymus level, Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, or you are under high stress and this are related also to candidiasis oral. Your age are important also, because if you are under the 20 years, or you are older than 20 or 30 years, it can be discarted some of this reasons. I think that the first step is make a complete Endocrinologic test because is the more common assosiation with oral trhush due to candida. in the other patients who suffer from Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, are in the life treating for this with azole 200mg daily. Guest guest
I'm copying over my post from a past thread, on this issue, in case someone reading this entry might have missed it. I've made some additions to that original post, as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ----- Hi! :-) I hope that I can be of some help on this issue -- I had oral thrush some years back, when my own candida overgrowth was very bad. Ecological Formulas brand Orithrush-D liquid concentrate was what I used to clear it up. The concentrate form is how I purchased it, and then I diluted it myself with filtered water. However, I've just noticed in an internet search that Orithrush-D gargle is now available, as well. I'm not sure that the gargle formula can be swallowed, but I know that you can gargle with the diluted concentrate version, and swallow afterward. I've tried food grade hydrogen peroxide for candida overgrowth issues, but it always made them worse. (It especially made the 'intestinal earthquake' sensations more prominent afterwards, when my candida overgrowth was quite severe.) Nystatin, same thing. Then again, food grade hydrogen peroxide is an antibiotic. And Nystatin has a strong antifungal component, but is mixed with an antibiotic, as well. I've not used ThreeLac, but I know that it contains sugar, so I'm avoiding the temptation to give it a try. A brainstorm -- Caprylic Acid capsules or tablets ... they taste pretty yucky, but I'd be willing to bet that they might work reasonably well on oral thrush, if, say the tablet were crushed, mixed with a bit of water to make a paste, and then spread across the afflicted areas. (Alternatively, with enough water added to the crushed tablet, one could make a caprylic acid mouth gargle.) The trick would be figuring out how much to use each day, I'm thinking, and how often to dose oneself. I'm a big brainstormer -- for years now I've been wondering about oral thrush and trying to determine if a few emptied-out acidophilus capsules, with their contents swished about in the mouth for a few minutes at a time and then swallowed, might be of some benefit? Another brainstorm -- I've read that products like Vicks VapoRub is anti-fungal in nature. It contains camphor, eucalyptus oil and menthol. So, I wonder ... since it contains menthol -- yet it cannot be placed in the mouth and swallowed -- perhaps another product containing menthol might work, if the menthol in question could be placed into the mouth to sit there for a bit? Like, say, Halls MenthoLyptus (sugar-free) cough drops, for example? Or, maybe a mouthwash that contains menthol might work? I have Tom's brand alcohol-free mouthwash, here, and it contains menthol, witch hazel, etc. As a disclaimer ... I do not have any financial interest in any of the products listed in this post, nor in the companies that sell them. Hope something that I've written here helps someone! If anyone gives any of these brainstorms of mine a try, please report back here! And thanks! Guest guest
An interesting page I just found: http://www.insensual.com/mintmenthol.html Mint and Menthol General Information The French called Mint " the plant of happiness, " and the Roman scholar Pliny said the mere smell of Mint could invigorate the soul. The ancient Greeks used this fragrant herb in their temple rite and as a symbol of hospitality. In the 1600s, Peppermint was deliberately bred in England, and became the tasty plant known so well today, but only became important medicinally around the 18th century. There are many species of Mint; however, the Peppermint and Japanese Mints are the most economically important. Both of them contain Menthol, which is the primary medicinal benefit of this plant. Menthol promotes digestion by stimulating the flow of bile to the stomach, and it also calms the muscles of the digestive system to help relieve stomach upsets. Spearmint does not contain Menthol and is used mainly for flavoring. Assuming that this information is correct, perhaps naturally-flavored, sugar-free peppermints might work on oral thrush? (Another brainstorm.) :-) Cecilia :+)
Guest guest
A friend's baby had thrush. After a few weeks of antibiotics and then some other medicine he still had it. I suggested homeopathy to her so she went to a naturopath and was given camomilia 6c. The thrush was gone in three days. Yeah for the natural path. Guest guest
I had oral thrush while on chemotherapy and they gave me a certain mouthwash they give to patients on chemo but I don't know what it was called. It got rid of the thrush completely. I also use Biotene toothpaste and mouthwash and take acidophilus and other probiotics. I like the UltraFlora Plus dairy free brand but there are many available at places like Whole Foods. The powder really seems to work better than the capsules because you can swish it around with water in your mouth before swallowing. Guest guest
I know someone else who had problems with thrush. Their doctor told them to use mouthwash with alcohol (like Listerine). At another visit, the doctor told them to try swishing Mylanta in their mouth 2-3 times per day for several days. That took care of it. I'm sure it depends on what is causing the thrush. --- In , " janebair73 " <janebair73@...> wrote: > > Thanks Janet, I'll see if pc physican will give it to me. This is a > prescription right? Guest guest
There was a doctor who has long been deceased who made up a compound liquid called " Dr Gellispie (SP) Mouthwash. " That stuff would clear up any oral thrush. I know it had Nystatin, benedryl, mayloxx (I think) and maybe other stuff. One was to swish this stuff in their mouth and either spit it out or swallow...eather way, it always cleared up thrush and relieved irritations. If you want this formula, it is possible one could call one of the pharmacies in SC and get it. I believe one will have better luck with a private phramacy in obtaining the formula. The newer pharmacies may not know. I used the formula just last year but can't remember which drug store made it up for me. Of course, one will need a prescription but a doctor should be able to write this and one can take it to their pharmacy and call a pharmacy here to get the formula. I would do my home work first to see which pharmacy has the formula. --- In , " janebair73 " <janebair73@...> wrote: > > Thank you for answering my post. Guest guest
Yea I have the thrush. I have tried rinsing with vinegar when my tongue was really bothering me. The vinegar did burn a little but it seemed to take the burn away. Don't know if it is good, but I also put vinegar on my toes after a shower just for preventive fungal in the toes. Of course everyone is different. --- In , " janebair73 " <janebair73@...> wrote: > > Thank you for answering my post. I am trying white vinegar now > and may use back up of Mylanta. Guest guest
The vinegar or any other mouthwash will only take care of what is on the surface. This is obviously telling me and you, to know surprise, that there is a deeper infection.(systemic) Of course, not having any medical background this is only my opinion and the correct medication to correct this most likely would have to be prescribed. You took care of it on the surface and I hope that was the hard part, but now it has to be taken care of internally. Got to start somewhere.
