Guest guest
Hi all I had some great news today. Finally I am pcru. I have been taking glivec since 2004 after relapsing from bmt in 1993. I took 400mg for awhile then increased to 600mg in december 2006. I had a dli in September last year and today the results came back pcru. YIPPEE. I am sooo happy. Am quietly celebrating with family tonight. The road ahead may mean I can trial off the drug if I remain pcru for 2 years, wow how good would that be Judy Telford Get the name you always wanted with the new y7mail email address. www.7.com.au/y7mail

Guest guest
Hi Sharon (#878), That is the best results that anyone can hope for. We know that a 3 log reduction guarantees that you will never relapse with your CML. Yours is a 5 log reduction. I was very surprised that with a PCR of 0.032 (which very close to a 3 log reduction) that they would increase your dose. We have learned that there was no advantage with PCRU over a 3 log reduction. I am happy the way it is and maybe after the next test I will ask about going down but that may be bad to do too. They just wanted me at 0% and a 3 log reduction.. U r right 0.032 is so close. Guest guest
I still do not understand what log reduction means . My labs were -1.07 . This is my first test for BCR-ABL. My doctor said she wasn't to see me at 3??? She explained it but I don't understand this . Does it mean that of the cells looked at ...less than 1.07 showed bad cells??? Guest guest
Eva, I don't understand log reduction either. All I know is they (dr's) want us at a 3 or more.. My report states that any log reduction 3 or higher most likely means you won't have a relapse. Especially if you reached pcr within 12 months of taking tasigna Eva I do not understand you numbers (107) maybe someone else will. Is your dr a cml specialist? Guest guest
Hi Eva, My guess is that 1.07 it is the result of a PCR test and you have had a 1 log reduction of your CML cells. Your doctor would like to see you at a 3 log reduction. Log reduction is a mathematical term. 1 log reduction means that it is 10 times less than it was at diagnosis time. A 3 log reduction means that it is 1000 times less than at diagnosis time. I leave it to you to figure out what a 2 log reduction is. Your goal is to get to a 2 log reduction. This would be equivalent to a CCR (a Complete Cytogenic Response). This gets you a number in the Zero Club. You seem to be right on track. You want to reach the CCR level within 12 months of starting Gleevec.
