Dear Aussie Sue,

I think you and Jimmy had your surgeries in close proximity (his was on May

2). He is recuperating well from that, but now he has bronchitis and additonal

drugs and has to use a nebulizer. He thought he would go back to work next

week, but I told him to " cool it " for a while.

I had my CBC Tuesday and found my counts on the low side. I called MDACC

and the Research Nurse told me to go to ER. I said I didn't want to go that

route. Last time, I had to wait my turn and then spent hours in one of the

rooms. They decided I needed 2 units of blood and had me admitted. I stayed in

the hospital 3 days for that.

Wednesday, I went to the oncology office and picked up orders to go to blood

lab to get my bracelets and get cross matched. Next morning I went to the

Infusion lab at 8:00 a.m. where I was given 2 units of blood. I told Jimmy to

drop me off at ER as it is the nearest entrance to the elevators to Infusion and

told him I would call him when they were done with me. He showed up at 11:30,

went to the cafeteria and had lunch and spent a while on my " potty chair "

because I was reclining in the only seat. I preferred that to lying in bed,

because I had to get up so many times after getting a shot of Lasix. When the

nurse came to check on me, she brought him a chair. I was done at 2:30, and it

was better than going to ER and being admitted.

The doctor asked if I felt really bad and I said that was an

understatement. I didn't have that problem when Medicare allowed us to get

Procrit shots every week, now you have to be at death's door to get a unit of

blood. We have to replace it, so that makes 7 we have to replace, because Jimmy

took 5 units when he had his surgery.

Considering what you went through, I think you are doing remarkably well,

Sue, just don't try to push the envelope. The work will still be there when you

get back, besides the horses are probably happy to see you at home. LOL I am

just starting to feel better today, but I still can't stand for long periods. I

felt like a fighter who gets knocked out in the first round. I see my

rheumatologist this week, so I hope he can give me a Kenalog injection for my

joints. That lasts for about 6 weeks max.

Trying to stay well,

Blessings & peace,

Lottie
