Guest guest
Dear : My left side pain started to get a lot worse when I was tapering my prednisone. When I went down to 7 mg, within 3 days it was unbearable. I wasn't sure if there was a connection, or if it was a fluke, so I tried to continue on the lower dosage. The pain got so bad I couldn't bear it and I ended up at the ER twice. There was nothing that they could do for me other than give me pain shots. In desperation I went back up to 7.5. It helped within a week, but the pain still continued at a dull roar. That's when all the joint pain and muscle pain really kicked in too, and I ended up at the ER again for chest pain. That ended up being from the muscles of the chest wall. More pain meds! I then went back up to 8 mg. and have leveled out on the left side pain. It's still there, but bearable unless I sit too long. The joint pain has remained strong and has started bothering me all over. The hepatologist told me he thought I had something else auto immune going on, but wasn't specific. Well, I didn't mean to go on so long everyone! Started out trying to answer 's question about prednisone and ended up venting instead! Thanks for listening! Guest guest
, it is under the ribs and around the back above the hip bone. Spasm type pain with waves of a sharper pain...perhaps a kidney stone on the horizon? I have never had one of these before but, I don't seem to have the rest of the stuff that goes along with colitis, just the pain and weakness for the last 3 days. I see the internal med doc on Monday. I am eating a high carb diet, no meat until then. Sheri Lynn

It didn't seem like a common symptom so it's still on the back burner. My left side pain (discomfort) preceded my hyperT by 5-7 years. I still have the left side discomfort, but not the hyperT so I just don't know if it's connected.
Guest guest
Dear , Did anything ever come of this " left side " thing? I started off feeling pain in my left upper quadrant in April 1999 - that was my main concern for nearly 17 months, until I got a GD diagnosis. I wonder now if I had/have pancreatitis or some other pancreatic problem - I read your info on pancreatitis often being followed by hyperT due to decreased absorbtion and it fits with me as I was mysteriously intolerant of alcohol all of a sudden and had a slightly elevated amylase reading. However, I am curious about the undefined nature of GD. It seems to me that hyperT is the end point of the disease, not the beginning, it would be so much easier if we could identify it at the beginning. Quite a few of us seem to be ill for months before it shows in our blood. If there are lots of us experiencing upper left quadrant pain prior to our blood tests revealing hyperT, maybe something we cannot yet detect is happening " on the left " in the early stages of this disease/ deficiency. I wonder if the pancreas is actually the first organ to be effected by GD/copper deficiency. Is it possible there is a pre-hyperT state that might be identifiable in the end, or do you think it is more likely that there are just many paths to becoming hyperT and a pancreatic problem is just one of them? MY LEFT SIDE DISCOMFORT/PAIN Nearly everything going wrong in my body is on the left for me: pain in my chest, pain in my upper abdomen (organ) and lower abdomen (ovary?), pain in my upper left ribs, back and shoulder blade area , shoulder bone, wrist bone, fingers, elbow bone and ankle bone; great big dark floater in my left eye and finally now, my thyroid gland is painful on the left and not the right and is protruding goitreously from my neck much more on the left, (it feels and looks a bit like a testicle or a small boiled egg under the skin !) Been reading the archives today and SO impressed. DAWN bu007@a... wrote: > Hi Everyone, > I'm interested in left side pain because I have it sporadically and am > not sure what is causing it. Guest guest
hi audrey, i had right side pain for 4 months after my surgery in march 2005. pain started day of surgery and i mentioned it to my dr. the day after surgery. he said he said he put in some extra stitches in that incision, something about the muscle.... anyway it was still hurting 6 weeks later and i flew to dallas where my dr. was having a get together for his patients and doing fills. he put in some cortizone shots because he thought it just needed more time to heal. he said if it doesn't get better in a few weeks to let him know. well first of july i called and told him i could not take the pain anymore something had to be done. he told me to go to my local dr. and have an ultrasound ran to rule out gallbladder, i did that, gallbladder was ok. i flew back to my dr. and he cut back into that incision and removed some of the stitches and i have not had a pain since that day. the thread used was kinda like an extra fine wire with a coating and where it was tied the knot was sticking into a nerve. that simple thing had given me 4 months of pain. he gave me the stitches and i still have them. i posted to several sites when this was happening to me and noone knew what it could be so i guess it doesn't happen often. thats why i kept waiting thinking it would go away and because i have fibromyalgia i thought my muscles were just staying sore longer. i hurt every day and went 3 months without losing any weight after 3 fills and since i've been out of pain i've lost around 8 lbs. i just couldn't put my mind to what i needed to do with the pain always there. i'm just happy to be pain free and at least the scale is going the right way, it may be slow but at least its moving. i hope your pain goes away soon and it isn't anything bad, just thought i would let you know my experience just ic case it may be something similar, but i hope not. take care, panessa little banded 3/11/05 268/247/175 dr. arturo rodriguez, monterrey > Hi~ > I'm two weeks post op and I'm experiencing a lot of pain in my left > side (near my waistline). Guest guest
Audrey, I would doubt it's much to worry about. Most likely it is from the scar tissue forming around the port area where it was sewn to the muscle fascia. Try not to sleep on that side if it causes discomfort. Also a try some mild pain killer like Tylenol. It won't be much longer til you suddenly wake up one morning and that pain is gone! Guest guest
I'm guessing this is the area where your port is placed? If so, it's common for it to be very sore and easily " pulled " for 4 weeks or more. It is a deep wound, and lots of nerves were cut (as is needed) when the As we become more active after recovery, it's common to become even a bit MORE sore. A warm heating pas will speed healing, and plain tylenol (cut into pieces) is fine, as long as you have no liver problems or sensitivity to tylenol. If the pain persists, please see your family doc or band surgeon. With any type of chronic pain in the abdomen (either right or left side), we begin to consider possible gallbladder problems. They are much less common with the slow weight loss of banding, but many of us already have the beginnings of gallstones or gallbladder disease from all the crash and yo-yo diets we have been on for years. Guest guest
Very interesting! I haven't herd of that before - but it could make sense.. The band has nothing directly to do with your uterus or other things involved in your period, and there is no connection to your diaphragm. BUT, during our periods, we can retain water, which can swell the intermal tissues including the area around the band, and THIS could cause some added pressure on the diaphragm leading to pain. Be certain that you stay well-hydrated, if your band is this sensitive to small bodily changes. If you get dehydrated at all, you can have swellignn that makes the band seem tighter, or causes this diaphragm pain. Sandy R
Guest guest
Yes, yes, yes to all. Pain was so severe ended up at doctors office. He very rudely told me nothing could cause that severe of pain in the left portion of abdomen/body!! Just thought I was whiny female. Bee's diet has relieved me of most all of those complaints. I have not been as strict as she encourages, and may have some problem in future. Do have some lymph nodes swollen in subclavian area to right side. Remember that if you eat packaged foods, that gluten can sneak in and cause terrible cramps. Words like " modified " - anything -is usually from wheat gluten. That was a big cramper for me....pre-Bee. And Tylenol, especially combined with some meds caused a flu like feeling to me. I have completely stopped all meds like/with Tylenol. Must be some liver enzymes weakness. So thankful for Bee and this site. Guest guest
Zuni...thanks for the reply. I have been on Bees plan for a long time, about a year, and doing this sort of eating plan for 1 1/2 years and before that a low carb plan excluding all the junk of some low carb plans. I havent been completely strict. I have had maybe 1 small (quarter size) gluten free animal cracker from my daughter here and there(like 3 months in between), half/half organic coffee, almond flour and some properly soaked nuts...but no boxed foods of any kind, cakes, pies, pasteries, pizzas ect...none of that. I have been very good because I know what will happen if I have that. I have had some different brand supplements that I am checking into because they did not list what they main contain. NowFoods usually is good at putting what is and what is not on the label but this time they did not with a milk thistle I bought. I am still trying to get all my other supplements from Bees list together but funds run short at time. I am lacking vitamin E and cant seem to take the chloraphil(sp) yet. I take that and I have a problem the next day. I am weening into some of these things to make sure my reactions are small. I am still thinking that maybe I reacted to the red peppers and maybe to much coconut oil? My lymph nodes are not swollen anywhere...just a bit achey like you get when they are doing their job when flooded with junk from our system. Hey..maybe the posions that are released are what is the problem? This wears my brain out! To much to keep thinking about but it irritates me that I dont have answers. I also take good enzymes and betain. Who knows....it just bothers me that I dont know. Yes...I am VERY happy there is a site here that helps us and Bee and the team are just absolutely great! If it were not for this site I would still be chasing down whatever system everyone else doing. Healign this and healing that insted of letting the whole body heal together as one with proper care. Blessings to you Zuni! > > Yes, yes, yes to all. The liver handles toxins so it can hurt off and on, and if you haven't had much fats in the past the gall bladder could be acting up while it adjusts to more protein and fats. I found that putting wet heat on the area helps. <snip> > I also am a bit stunned because if it where my food I thought it > wouldnt be on that side of my bowels that soon. Maybe I am wrong? I experienced all of the symptoms you describe during the first part of my candida program in the mid 1980s. Owweee my liver hurt almost unbearably. I was under the care of a holistic M.D. and she prescribed coffee enemas. They help your liver and lymph glands (adrenals)decongest and detoxify. Also do other things to help you detox: dry skin brushing or rebounding on a mini trampoline or jumping rope, drink 4-5 cups of Pau d'arco tea per day, Epsom salt baths, the lemon juice & ocean sea salt drink, etc. as listed in my article. Guest guest
Hi Bee...thanks so much for your reply. I have to say I am having a heck of a time trying to get up to exercise. At times I feel like I do many other things except take care of myself proper. I am under a lot of emotional problems at this time with a seperation in order and the crap he does to me. Its very overwhelming. I am also spending all the energy I can to take care of my daughter and do everyday chores to make this apartment clean. I know it doesnt sound like much but it is with my fatigue. I am trying better on my better days. I am very anxious about doing the enemas. I have a small bathroom and I already have a hard time with loose bowels that I am afraid I will make a mess. I am going to search about colonics in my area. Maybe that road would be better for me? I use to have to use suppositories when I was pregnants with . It was to help me hold down food/water. It went in and as soon as it was in my body right away wanted to expel it and it was painful and hard to try to keep it in. When I start to drink the lemon and salt it makes me nausous and even if I get one down the next day I feel like I ate a ton of salt and the bloat is there, swelling and an odd sensation/feeling of what your body can feel like during hot/humind days...very weird and uncomfortable. I also get more brain fogged, headachey, out of charactor feelings and more eye irriations/allergy. I tried just some plain lemon with water adn a tad of stevia and the same thing happened. Could it me my body just doesnt like lemons? Odd huh? I am trying Bee....I visualize one day just having that perfect feeling everyday and having that energy to work, play and do all God has intended me to do in this life. Guest guest
That's okay Bee...I just wondered. Btw...I have meant to ask you this for awhile now. I only have one adrenal gland. I had the left one removed in 1991 when I had MEN-2 (a type of cancer). Can the fact that I only have the one remaining be causing extra adrenal fatigue? For the most part I am doing really well on the diet but every once in awhile I will suddenly feel like I've run into a brick wall. For no apparent reason I just get overwhelmingly tired and can barely move. Also some practitioners recommend that too many are done (means more money for them), and they should not be done too close together so the large bowel has time to re-adjust and go back to performing it's important functions, i.e. 4-5 days apart. Yes having only one adrenal gland will cause more adrenal fatigue, but your body will compensate for it as you continue on this program. It is particularly important for you do dry skin brushing every day. If you haven't done them before start with 1 per day and gradually increase them like it states in the File on it. Or you can do re- bounding on a mini trampoline. It is very important for the adrenals, and the entire endocrine system to get exercise and/or stimulation. They do not have a pump like the heart does, so in order for them to move fluids around exercise or dry skin brushing is very necessary. > > For the most part I am doing really well on the diet but every once in awhile I will suddenly feel like I've run into a brick wall. For no apparent reason I just get overwhelmingly tired and can barely move. ==>Do ensure you are only eating foods recommended. Any kind of indiscretion, as well any stresses, will cause a great deal of fatigue for you. It would also be good for you to do Breathing Exercises - see the Folder " Breathe Right " . Guest guest
Well I have had constant bone pain since I was dxed in April 04 and started Gleevec. I take 4 500mg of loritabs a day, but in most the pain subsides, if it doesn't you might want to look into those instead of tylenol 3's. All they did was make me sleep and sick to my stomach.
