Lottie,

This is the first time I have responded to a post, although I have read many

over the last few years.  My wife has had CML for the last four years, is taking

400mg of Gleevec daily.  We are very appreciative and thankful for this group

and the valuable information it has provided us.  We have Part D and are insured

with Kaiser Senior Advantage.  We have been insured with Kaiser for over thirty

years.  When we became 65, and where required to join Senior Advantage, the out

of pocket cost of Gleevec increased substantially due to the $4000 " donut

hole "  that is in the Part D coverage. I have checked with a  number of other

insurance providers and they also require the insured to pay the " donut hole " .

In reading your post to I got the impression that you had found an

insurance that paid the  " donut hole " .  If so that would be great news.  Let us

know.  Thanks

   Jim

[ ] Plan D & Medicare

Dear ,

I am on Medicare and my Plan D is Sterling. I had other plans in prior years,

but I found this one the best suited for me. I called Medicare and gave them a

list of my drugs and they found the company that best suited my needs and even

told me how much a month it would cost, which was less than I was paying before.

The generic brands cost me nothing. I have the option of getting 3 months at the

time, which would be mailed to me, but I buy from the drug store where my

daughter in law works and she brings them home after I fax the script to her. I

hope this answers your question about how we are getting our meds in the US on

Medicare.

You can call the Gleevec hotline at 877-453-3832 in the US and 514-631-6775 in

Canada to see if you qualify for free of low payment of Gleevec. I also have the

name of a company that supplies it to those who qualify if you will contact me

personally. LLS may also advise you of where you can get Gleevec.

Blessings and good luck with getting your Medicare,

Lottie

Lottie,

Thank you for the info. That is the one thing that makes me nervous when I turn

65. The years are flying by,. I can't believe that it will only be 8 more

years until I am eligible. Right now I am on Cobra, and hoping to get a full

time job with benefits. If I wanted to work in a hospital and do nights,

weekends, and holidays, I probably wouldn't find it difficult to get a job, but

since I only want to work in a surgery center or doctors office, it is

difficult. I still have a little more than a year to go, but it does go

quickly.
