More info on teeth, Sue (Australia)

I have been using for a week only - directions are that you use your

normal toothpaste in the morning - and then pm Denta-Med - if mouth ulcers etc

you can use it directly on the mouth ulcer and you can also brush inside

your mouth.

I am going to the dentist at the end of the month - so it will be

interesting to see if there is a difference.

This product has been endorsed by the Western Australian Cancer Support

Association.

Clinical Research - Denta-Med

Clinical research has been conducted independently in Australian Dental

Schools in Perth and Adelaide by expert and unbiased dental examiners.

This research demonstrated that in a group of 34 subjects with very good

oral health, Denta-Med reduced plaque by 27% and improved gum health by 18% over

one month.

In a group of 20 subjects with very poor oral health after using Denta-Med

for two weeks there was a mean plaque reduction of 61% and improved gum health

of 40%. Several went from 95% of tooth surfaces covered with plaque to 0%.

In a separate study on patients with dry mouth, leukemia, and HIV/AIDS the

dental examiners noticed other benefits besides improved oral health. The

subjects stated they had relief from dry mouth. The examiners noted there was

remineralisation of enamel. Uncomfortable mouths were more comfortable and there

was a significant improvement in their oral health.

Dentist-Toothpaste Product

information about a dental product for Dental Care in Chemotherapy that

can help during cancer therapies.

Denta-Med is the product and a West Australian invention by Dr

Shanahan

Dr Shanahan is a leading Western Australian based clinical dentist.

Denta-Med replaces conventional products.

The dentist recommends that before any type of chemotherapy medication to

have a thorough dental check-up and up practice metriculour mouth care.

Conventional oral care products such as toothpastes and mouthwashes can

make things worse because of the sharp tast of toothpastes can burn, the foaming

agent can irritate the soft tissues, the toothpaste abrasives can make the gums

bleed, and mouthwashes can contain ingredients that further irritate the mouth.

The benefit of the Denta-Med is it makes the whole mouth comfortable and

provides an antibacterial screen that heals and protects the whole mouth from

infection. Also though it is used with a toothbrush it can also be placed direct

on any mouth ulcers and acts in two ways. The antibacterial prevent reinfection

reducing pain and it also promotes healing by stimulating the sub surface

tissues of the ulcer.
