Kassia,

The biking on those hills seems like a challenge--you won't let them

get the best of you...I need to do a little more crosstraining! Want

to start a little outside exercise in the spring.

done yoga to warm up but i was afraid if i took my socks off i would

have gotten frostbite LOL. anyway since i had maintence in and out of

the house for most of the morning so i needed to go with a shorter

workout. i also wasn't up to much heavy lifting so i wanted to go with

something just challenging enough. going through my vhs tapes to see

what needs to go so i started with kathy smith's lift weights to lose

weight.

min for upper body, one 20 min for lower body, and a 7 min core

workout. for upper body she gives you the choice of using ligther

weights with more reps(the extra reps are like pulsing reps i believe

they are four)or heavy weight with less reps. she pretty does one set

of 12 does the pulsing reps then another set of 12. i went with

heavier weights. she hits all upper body spots with at least 2 exercises.

i didn't use dumbbells but i did use ankle weights since there were a

few leg lifts in this workout. mostly squats combined with leg lifts

and only a few sets of lunges combining it with quad extensions. it

was pretty challenging with just ankle weights, i probably would have

died this morning if i used dumbbells too LOL. my bum was a little

sore of bar method yesterday so i didn't want to overdo it. the core

work was pretty standard crunches and superman lifts for back.

binder for dh. i printed out some workouts from bodybuilding.com. it

was 6 miles there and back. but i had such a hard time b/c of all

these hills. even ones that look small were a pain to get over. i run

this road and can handle that but could not handle it on the bike. i

just kept saying I HATE HILLS WHAT ARE THE PURPOSE OF HILLS and yes i

said it out loud LOL. i was also pretty ticked that when i got to the

store and saw they had a sale on frozen veggies, i didn't have my club

card and they couldn't look it up b/c it was under my old phone

number. stupid ppl do away with these club cards and just give a good

price all the time LOL.

i don't get it in. i was going to run tomorrow but i am sure i burnt

out with the bike ride so i am just taking tomorrow off along with my

weekend and just do yoga and maybe some pilates. i am already feeling

a bit sore, so there is no way i am going to have an effective run. if

i feel up to it saturday or sunday i may try a run but tomorrow is

totally out of the question.

you are right i shouldn't let it get to me. i just figure when i run down that road i do okay so i would be just as good as riding the bike LOL. its a goal for the future. like when i can afford a better bike too LOL. something about a bike that is stuck on one speed that makes things harder kassiabillsgirl93 <billsgirl93@...> wrote: Kassia,The biking on those hills seems like a challenge--you won't let themget the best of you...I need to do a little more crosstraining! i did pick up some used books at the used book store for runner. they were published by runner;s world. there are all sorts of info for training for marathons or just simple goals like increasing speed or distance. i am just lazy at picking up books LOL but if i finish those then i will go back and pick up more. they had tons of books on running and walking. kassiaDonna M-P <donna112520@...> wrote: You are smart not to push the run if you're not up forit. I ran a bit a few years back (I used to run allthe time when I was younger) and i found I really hadto scale back on the weighted leg work otherwise, myruns were just miserable. I wish I could remember thename of the program I followed - try a search for"penguins" or something - it was some animal! LOL!

Anyway, they followed a run/walk program and I reallyenjoyed doing it. Unfortunately, with my schedule atthis point, I don't really have the time to runoutdoors, but maybe if all works out with a pre-schoolprogram in the fall I can attempt to get back into it.Take care!!Donna__________________________________________________
