Hi Barbara,

I am on gleevec (400mg) for 3 years now, some here for a lot longer.

Published data from the biggest follow up trial (IRIS 6 years follow up)

show that for people that respond well to gleevec (are in complete

cytogenetic remission) the rate of relapse (any evolution or loss of

response) gets smaller with time, and almost nobody who has been 3 years or

more CCR on gleevec relapses. So if you are doing good on gleevec, it is

very likely to be ok for a long time.

Marcos.

Hi Barbara,

The vast majority of people who were diagnosed post Gleevec era are

still alive and can expect to be alive for a normal life span.

according to what dr talpaz told our israeli cml patients in a meeting last

year, they have managed to turn cml into a chronic desease, and he thinks that

with gleevec and the second generation tki life expectancy can be arround 25

years.

as a matter of fact he told the 150 patients attending that he thinks that most

of them will out live their treating drs.... he was usying humor ofcourse, but

as we say in every lough there is some truth..

I was wondering what the longevity was for someone on this list that has had

no other treatment for CML but Gleevec?

Thanks

Barbara
