Guest guest
Hi Lottie, Sorry to hear of Jimmy's troubles. I've been away from the computer for the last week or so while trying to get my floors done before company descends this weekend for Mother's Day, my husband's bday (Monday) and our 30th anniversary (Tuesday). Plus trying to get ready to go to Oregon the week after to see my 96 year old mother in law. Include in all this my friend, who needs me to drive her to Coeur d'Alene and Spokane to pick up supplies for their new house, and I'm one busy lady! LOL I remember the cardiac floor well. LOL Though, I found all the nurses wonderful and caring. Well except for the night nurses, they always seemed bored and not too happy to be working the graveyard shift (is anyone?). Cardiac diets are devoid of any spices and tasteless. You get more of your share of mystery meat and green jello (yuck). I never experienced the after-surgery grouchiness that affects a lot of patients. Don't know why, but guess it just isn't in my nature. My wonderful husband drove 95 miles one way every day to visit with me. He was working the graveyard shift then (ha ha) and I don't know how he managed it. I felt sorry for him because I was always hot so had the a/c on in the room with a fan running. Poor Dave would sit there in his winter coat! I think he was happy when that part passed lol. Tell Jimmy to keep his humor intact, especially with the poor nurses! Remember that they are just doing whatever the doctor tells them to do. Maybe it is because both my boys dated nursing students that I feel this way. But I do know how hard they work. Take care, Zazz [ ] Latest update I think if Jimmy had known the surgery would have entailed all of this, he would have kept his blockages and taken his chances. Still no word on when he will be discharged. They are about to transfuse him again and they are having a hard time controlling his anemia and arrhythmia. Until that is resolved, I don't suppose he will be coming home. He says he can't sleep because someone is always there fussing over him to get up and walk, physical therapy and inhalation therapy. As the bags of heparin are emptied, the machines start beeping and it takes them about 10 or 15 min. for someone to come and change the bags. He's calling for me, so duty calls and I will go. Just between us, I'm tired of the hospital and the food, too. LOL. Blessings and watch your diet and quit smoking so you won't have to endure this type of treatment and surgery, Lottie
