Guest guest
Hi all, I must chime in here on gleevec and side effects. I was on 400 mg for 5 years. The side effects, including fatigue, bone and joint pain, muscle cramping, rash of blisters, joint effusion and such all continued in a gradual manner until I couldn't stand them. I thought I would have to quit work. Remission did not make any difference. I was PCRU the whole time. I had to take a break for 10 weeks ( guided by my oncologist and Druker) and then began again on 300 mg. Still, they returned. So I went on tasigna. I had some side effects at first on 800 mg and dropped to 400. I have been on this 5 months. Side effects are GONE. I am living a normal life and I just want you all to know, there is hope from those dasterdly side effects. I am STILL PCRU as well. We are so lucky to have choices on drugs. I consider the option for tasigna heaven sent.... Best to all and welcome new members. It is good to see you on the list... After being at zero for the past 6 months, I was surprised that fatigue continues to plague me. Not all the time but every few weeks I have a period of several days or a couple weeks of overwhelming fatigue when I don't feel like getting dressed...(however I DO and try to keep my normal routine). It does seem to pass after awhile. Does anyone else continue to experience fatigue after getting to zero? > > The edema take management with lasiz, 20 mg or 40 mg every other day, then I struggle with getting enough potassium to avoid muscle spasms. But all in all I feel much better taking some of the fluid off so it's worth it. > > Margaret > > > > > > > Margaret , > mpraymond@... > margaret-raymond@... > > > > > > >
