Guest guest
hi bobby, group, haven't been around for a while as i had nothing to contribute. just curious, how can one not feel some pain when the bone marrow sample is taken, no matter how much numing is done to the area? i didn't think the bone could be numed, just the area around it. when i get my bmb/bma i could feel when the marrow was air hammered.lol what do you take for pain? the dr always did mine. maybe he was in a hurry to make someone else suffer. jean In , ROBERTA DOYLE <rcd1929@...> wrote: > > > Hi everyone, had quite the visit yesterday. Guest guest
Hi If the doctor pulls the marrow too fast, you will feel it. To me, it felt like he was sucking the marrow up from my toes but it was so fast that before I could say " ouch " , it was over. The next time I told him to pull it very slowly and I didn't feel a thing....until the lidocaine wore off, then I felt " sore " for a few days. Guest guest
Hi Jim, Almost all my BMB/BMAs were painless. It all has to do with technique. I was very lucky except for one of them. It was the BMB from hell. The doctor finally gave up and declared it a dry tap. Guest guest
Hi, I can only attest to what my gal says when she is numbing the area, then she says she is numbing the bone. It takes her longer to do this than it takes to aspirate, but took her longer and with no results to get a piece of bone. I was in there an hour because she had such a tough time trying to do it, then she apologized for all the time it took. But it didn't hurt, she's good at what she does, not her fault if there's to much scarred tissue. Guest guest
Tracey-- You are so right--I think it feels like you are being turned inside out from the toes up--and then it's over!~ You really don't have time to even react. I was told by my doctor that they can anesthetize the skin but it is the marrow part of the bone that hurts---and it can't be anesthetized. So, it is never going to be fun, but it isn't as awful as I once thought it was. Sternum sounds awful and scary--I much prefer the hip.
